    documenting vehicle restoration w/ camera?

I had this idea awhile ago. I don't know if Arecont can upload to a FTP server but I know Axis cameras can. We were going to set this up to upload 1 image every hour during during the work week. We where going to do this for a shop that had 5 areas for 5 different cars so we would have installed 5 cameras. Also we where going to install a PTZ camera so the car owners could login and look at there cars or if there was a problem with the car the shop owner could show that car owner that issue. I though it was a great idea but the project never came though.
  2. Consider what it says to potential customers, though: if Axis charges 3x more for their outdoor housing then why not the same for their cameras? Whether true or not, this implies that everything else they sell is overpriced. If/when ACTi sends me a video I will post it to the sticky thread here. they do have some clips up on their site, just not from the particular model I am interested in. That said, I just strolled over to Axis' website and they don't seem to have any demos of their cameras up, either... Axis doesn't make there housings they rebrand them. They use Videoalarm houses which can be had for around 100$ less. Axis does have demos for almost all of there camera but they are only available to there partners. Buy Axis cameras from me and I will demo any camera you want

    IP cam-to-WiFi?

I use a cheap Linksys WAP54G AP. Setup static IP addresses in the camera and AP on the same subnet and use a patch cable to connect them. Easy and cheap. I always keep it in my bag with my Ipod Touch so I can test and focus cameras.
  4. Because the 211 gives you more options and better image quality. You don't have to use Axis's housings you can find them much cheaper. Also you are requesting images from ACTi please let us know if you get any from them. As a Axis partner Axis will send free demo cameras to us to test and demo. Ask ACTi if they do that.
  5. I think you may have had a typo...Progressive scan is better then interlaced. You will notice the difference when you have fast moving objects.
  6. You get what you pay for and Axis is the best. You could also try Vivotek I have had a 6111 installed at my front door for about 6 months without a reboot but it will take 6 weeks to get one fixed if it breaks.
  7. Doesn't matter where you are you can view and export recorded footage from any computer in the world using IE, Firefox or Safari. Your client can be at the site or on the other side on the planet doesn't matter Hell you could give the police an account so they don't even have to come on site. Also don't forget our system will be half the cost and easier to install.
  8. This is true, BUT... I don't think you want to try recording 40 cameras to a single location over broadband, unless you're recording CIF at ultra-high compression and about a frame per minute. Plus, Vigil is a solid system that's currently at version 5... your solution is still in beta *nudge nudge* BTW, you can also do something like this with the VideoInsight systems, which I've also dealt with... but personally, I think the Vigil system is a lot cleaner. That's my three cents (fuel surcharge included). We can record 10,000+ cameras on our servers And we can do it at what ever your customers bandwidth allows us to. I have done MJPEG @ 3fps at D1 without any problems. Our tests with H.264 we can do 10fps @ D1. We can do the same system for about half the price I know exactly how Videoinsight does this. Servers at each sight and a client software that logs into every server which makes the multi-site location look like one big system. Very expensive Also are setup is a lot cleaner and easier to use the Videoinsight, Vigil, or any other product on the market
  9. Soundys solution requires DVRs/NVRs at each location. Our solution does not so you could save your customer a lot of money. Only the IP cameras or video encoders with broadband are required at each site. With are system you your client can access the video anywhere in the world using a internet browser. No client software to manage or install.
  10. How many cameras per location? What type of internet is at the locations. I have a perfect solution for your job..... Problem is it's in the demo stage.
  11. Hmm, how long will it last then? Your opinion ? Have you had similar experience ? It's hard to tell how long it will last. I would put it in a housing so you dont have to worry about it.
  12. I think the question is not will it work but how long it will work for.
  13. 212 is color only and it needs ALOT of light. 233d is amazing!!!!
  14. I can take another pic of the stand and shot with it cranked up.
  15. http://www.acti.com/Web_AdministratorV2/CatalogV2/DataSheet/%7BC1BCB303-80C3-49F5-B16D-0BE09F79B78.PDF The camera your talking about is not a megapixel camera. The maximum resolution of that camera is Full D1 (720x480 in NTSC, 720x576 in PAL).

    Axis Illuminators

Thank you. http://www.rayled.com/ Anybody use these?
  20. Does Trendnet make a video decoder?
  21. What was what I was getting at. But that only works with Axis products and it is over kill for a one camera setup. It will work fine but it is not cheap at $799. What camera do you have?
  22. What is the make and model of the camera you are using?
  23. Have heard from a number of developers that processor they use in there megapixel line is not powerful enough and after about 10min of streaming the cameras lock up. Please let us know.
