Another Fiber Question/PTZ Over Fiber?
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
I would go IP. Use some Zyxel Media converters Axis 233d PTZs and IPConfigure for NVR software. This will be very easy with IPconfigure. You can control the software from any internet browser. No need for KVMs , RDP or VNC. Install a computer with dual monitors in the guard station. I think this install will be a lot simpler with a IP setup. I can show you a demo of IPconfigure if you would like. -
Found this on MSN.com. Things are going to change with Megapixel Cameras. The image quality is very bad in the shooting video

How many total cameras and locations? I would use a IP system with IPconfigure for recording and Axis cameras. IPconfigure can have unlimited cameras and users any where in the world. Just to give you an idea on the scalability IPconfigure won the bid for the US Postal Service. They will have there system in every post office in the US at some point. Also with IPconfigure there is no client software to install everything is done though IE. We are Ipconfigure partners and I can answer any questions you my have about there product. PM me with any quesitons

What is the IP address of the camera? -
I would recommend using cameras with h.264. The Axis products I have used reduce the bandwidth by around 80%. If you are planing on using 4 cameras for remote viewing and 4 customers are logged in each camera you are going to need lots bandwidth with mjpeg. just something to keep in mind.

MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Wow.....That is the first image I have seen from a Arecont camera that is completely in focus. Thanks for the images -
I would setup a wireless network and use a Samsung Q1 UMPC. You can carry it anywhere in the house.

You could use a Axis video encoder and just take advantage of the audio or put it inline with one of the cameras. The encoder will give you two way (full or half-duplex) or one-way audio over IP. Hookup whatever mic and speaker you would need and you can have a 2-way conversation on any computer. They also have trigger in/out puts so you can turn lights on and hookup a motion sensor and send emails when there is motion. http://www.axis.com/files/datasheet/ds_243sa_32853_en_0808_lo.pdf

New Axis HDTV network camera !!!
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Well, then you have seen very little amount of megapixel CCTV videos HD - marketing trick and it doesnt cost 1500$ but 700$. Cant see any reason this camera to be special. I have talked to every major NVR software developer in our quest to find the best software for our customers. When I talk to their developers and tech support, I ask them "off the record" what cameras do they recommend, everyone says Axis. Their sales guys will try and sell me ACTi or Arecont and the developers and support say stick with Axis. The only other camera that was recommended from one developer was IQvision And by the way I have demoed or installed cameras from every major manufacture. Do any of you guys get into some of the custom scripting and http commands in your installs? Show me some video from the best image quality you have seen from a cctv/ip/mega camera. -
New Axis HDTV network camera !!!
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Great point!!! And that is why we use alot of Axis products. I am not saying they make a camera for every situation but they make a very good product and they are a head of the curve. Show me anther company that has the features, image quality and support that Axis does and I will use there cameras. Do you know that Axis does not have a repair department? If you ever have to send a camera back you get a new camera not a refurb. -
New Axis HDTV network camera !!!
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
By the way, I didn't want to offend by not sharing your excitement, so sorry if I did. After having seen the video, I just wanted you to realize that you wouldn't get such a good quality/value ratio compared to competitive offerings, whether it's equivalent at a lower price or higher end at a similar price. While I admit the 10x optical zoom is interesting, it would only make sense if paired with pan/zoom and a human operator. Without that, it's better to buy a quality lens with a fixed zoom calibrated for the optimal field of view for your purposes. Also, it would be nice if they didn't try to trick people with 1080i versus 1080p, because interlaced footage is definitely horrible when paused. That should really be avoided. There is a gate keeper function that will auto zoom in on a object. So you could have wide shot and zoom in on door every time it opens up. [ -

New Axis HDTV network camera !!!
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Wow you guys are hard to impress I willing to bet that if I could digitally zoom in the image (I use VLC to play the video so I can't) we could make out the plates in the video. That camera has a 10x optical zoom, auto focus, day/night, WDR, h.264 with multi-streams, SD card and component video output. -
