  1. If your recording on your LAN it will still record. If you are recording off site using the WAN then if the internet goes down then you will not be recording. But how often does the internet go down?
  2. Well the problem with Avigilon is the price. Here is the video http://www.mediafire.com/?dmnhwwz0zz2
  3. Well the Avigilon 16 megapixel camera was the best I have seen also but I the Axis q1755 is as good and it is around 10,000$ less.
  4. The Avigilon is over $10,000 with lens right? and you can only use it with Avigilon!!! The Axis camera is less then $1500!!! and you can use it with any NVR software.

  8. That is not the camera you are looking for. Try VideoIQ http://videoiq.net/products put it in a housing and with a Sierra Wireless GSM modem http://www.sierrawireless.com/resources/product/AirLink/AirlinkRavenX_HSDPA_Datasheet.pdf only thing your missing a 10 I/0s..... I think the camera has 2 ins and 2 outs.
  9. you need 2 video cards with dual outputs
  10. OUTREACH doubles, triples or even quadruples the normal 330ft (100m) CAT5 cable run length for 100BaseT networks. It forwards both Ethernet and PoE for another 330ft (100m) using a patent-pending power-processing scheme, and multiple units can be employed in series for even longer distances, with no degradation in network speed or latency. OUTREACH itself is powered by a PoE network switch (or PoE injector) and so requires no separate power connection in the middle of the cable, making it extremely easy to connect and power IP cameras two or three times further than previously possible without going to fibre or installing midspan power sources. http://www.veracityusa.com/products/outreach/outreach.php Has anyone used one of these? I might have a need for a couple of these for a job I am working on. I would like some feed back before I decide to order them.
  11. OnSSI is the best I have used...... you can get a 30 demo off there site. http://www.onssi.com/

    OnSSI Ocularis

We saw a demo at ISC east and it is by far the best looking NVR software I have seen. From my understanding Ocularis is the client software you still use DVMS for the recording. I have demoed alot of NVR software (at least 10 to 15 NVR manufactures). OnSSi has never crashed (client or web) and it is very easy to use. I can wait to demo Ocularis on my server.

    Hybrid System suggestions

http://www.udtech-usa.com/ you can get NUUO product here
  14. If you need low light performance from Arecont I recommend the 3130. I only wish the day time performance was as good as it's night time. Also I just upgraded the firmware on the 3130 and has more functionality now and it looks like I'm getting better frame rates.
  15. The only problem I have with Vivotek is the turn around time for warranty. If it has to go back your looking at 4-6 weeks. With Axis it's 2 days and that to me is worth the extra money.

    ISC East - Anyone?

We will be there tomorrow weather permitting.
  17. Bosch makes a single channel encoder or decoder (VideoJet 10). I have not used any Bosch IP products but I hear they are good and you get good support. http://www2.boschsecurity.us/pdf/EN/VideoJET10_DS_82311.pdf I use Axis products and they work every time. I have a point to point setup with the AXIS 247S that's been up and running for 4 months with out any problems. Only difference is I am not using there decoder I am recording with AXIS software. Axis does make a video decoder which prefect for your situation. Here is a link to the products: http://www.axis.com/products/cam_292/index.htm http://www.axis.com/products/cam_247s/index.htm
  18. You mean 2 IP licenses or are you saying they give you 2 ip cameras to try for 30 days? The web viewing quality will depend mostly on the upload speed from the server's ISP. I have not used OnSSI so I don't know if you can setup up different setting for recording and monitoring. If so, you can set it up to record @ 3M and 10fps but view at D1 and 1fps. This will make remote viewing a lot better. I would recommend at least 1meg upload with the cameras you are using. Also depending your setting and how long you what to store the video you might need more storage. Here is a link to OnSSI's NVR Hardware and Storage Calculator: http://www.onssi.com/support/nvr.php What cameras are you going to use?

First Megapixel IP CCTV System Install

The 209 is a very cool camera and it is a lot smaller then it looks in the pics. It will fit in the palm of your hand. Also it is POE only and it does come with a 1 port midspan

    Newbie question?????

Ok Does your current cctv set have a DVR or NVR? Most systems have web interfaces that allow you to log into them without any client software. What is the manufacture and model number of your DVR/NVR?

    How to Question

I would use the monitor out of the dvr in to a 1 channel modulator. Set the DVR to a matrix display so you can see all 9 cameras on the screen or you could use a 9 channel modulator so you could view the cameras full screen but it will take up 9 different channels. But as everyone stated modulating on digital cable is not easy or cheap. The best way to do this would be to run a RG-6 or cat5 to each TV from the DVR and use composite video with a powered amp/splitter from the monitor out of the DVR. IF you have to use the computer as the source I would use a dual output video card with a composite video as your second monitor feeding the video splitter. But I would use the DVR output first before going this route.

I got a crazy idea... Use a $3,000 MacBook Air laptop as DVR

    here is another option: http://www.aimetis.com/SymphonyOnBoard/default.aspx

    Recommendations Please

Video Insight is a good product with great support. I have not used there analog setup only the IP4.0. I like using video servers instead of capture cards, more scalable and it can be cheaper. I am currently testing the limits of there latest software release and so far so good. I have 35 IP cameras recording on one server I will be adding as many as I can up to 100 cameras on one server. I have found a couple of bugs in the latest release but there support is working on them right now. If you use the monitor station (client) for remote viewing I have no problems but the web interface is crashing on me. This is something that they are looking at right now. I like Video-Insight for the support and there product is very easy to use. Here is a demo of the web client (IE only) www.demoip.com
