How do you get tv out?
thewireguys replied to Media's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Some IP cameras have analog outputs like Bosch and Vivotek to name a couple. Others use IP decoders like AXIS. Here is an over view of the AXIS 292 Network View Decoder. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_292/index.htm -
Wow thank you for the info...... Now I will never sleep What about some info on scripting and TCP IP interfacing?

I got one today to play around with and to use for a rental/temp setup. If you don't know anything about the new AXIS one channel video server here are some of the highlights. POE, with power out to power a 12volt camera. 4 configurable I/O ports audio in/out RS-485 port for PTZ control H.264 and Motion JPEG with multiple streams SD slot for local storage ( I found 32gig SD cards) it is very small cut sheet http://www.axis.com/files/datasheet/ds_q7401_32464_en_0807_lo.pdf Using a 32gig card with H.264 I can get 11 days of storage, recording 24/7 at 6fps My only complaint so far is you can only view the recorded video using the Q7401. You can not insert the SD card into a computer and view the files. I called Axis tech support and they told me if use mjpeg I should be able to view the files using a computer and they are working on a player for H.264 to view the files without using the Q7401 GUI. AXIS is new to the on board storage so I don't think they figured out the best way to utilize it yet.

AXIS Q7401 review

The Q4701 does not have MPEG-4 only MJPEG and Q.264 so there is no way for me to compare. -

AXIS Q7401 review
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That would be a nice setup I wish I knew how to write code and use the custom scripting option. I would write something that says : when SD disk is full FTP all files to a server and delete contents of disk then resume recording. Does anyone know where I could take a crash course in programing to write something like this????? -
Projects that utilized the I/O ports on IP cameras
thewireguys posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would like to hear about any projects and/or jobs that used the in and out triggers on IP cameras and video servers. I am trying to get some ideas and see how creative people have got. I will start. I have a Vivotek 6111 at my front door and the digital input hooked into my doorbell. So, when some presses it I receive pre and post trigger images emailed to my Blackberry. Very simple and works every time. There is a job I am bidding right now that I would like to use a AXIS 233D with the auto tracking and trigger inputs. The costumers lot is triangular shaped with a fence equipped with vibration sensors. The system is zoned so he knows which side has an issue. I would like to install 233d and utilize the 3 triggers with the 3 zones so when the alarm is triggered the PTZ will move to the violated zone and start auto tracking any moving objects. I think it might work because the auto tracking will only be on when it is trigger by the alarm. lets hear some ideas -

come on guys show me what you got. -
Well do you have a DVR? If you do is it able to record IP cameras or is it analog only? I have used EnGenius outdoor access points for non-LOS project with out any problems but I was only 600ft. I think if you use directional antennas it might work for you. Price about $400 each

are you using analog or ip camera?

how well do PTZ and Motion Detection mix ?
thewireguys replied to metafizx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Motion detection is not going to work if the camera is consistently moving. If you have the camera running a guard tour but you have the camera pointed in one direction for say 30 seconds the move to a new location for 30 seconds then you can use motion detection. I know with Aimetis you can setup different motion settings at each location unlike using the cameras motion detection. Any chance you can use motion detectors hooked up to the I/O ports on the camera? -

Can I use 3rd Party Software to allow Remote CCTV viewing on
thewireguys replied to Radge10's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Does the DVR have a web interface or must you use the client software to log in? I don't know of any universal DVR clients. You could use a 4 channel video server for the remote viewing and still use the DVR for recording. -
IP Cameras and Video Analytics Software
thewireguys replied to ChrisVA's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Auto tracking is only use full in areas with little or no expected movement. Say you have a large fenced in area and I night time no one is allowed in. Auto tracking might work well in the situation. -
Most if not all AXIS products support IPV6

power over ethernet help please
thewireguys replied to garymaule's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I am not trying to confuse any one but this is a good place to post this. AXIS just came out with some high power midspans and splitters which are rated a 2A @ 12V and 1A @ 24V. So you can now power heaters, blowers, and PTZs with POE. http://www.axis.com/files/datasheet/ds_high_poe_32463_en_0809_lo.pdf -

I installed the Arecont software on a P4 laptop with 2gigs of ram it ran like a dog...... I would not install the Arecont software on anything less then a quad core.
