I saw a video somewhere on the net that showed a green pen laser with a gun scope mounted to it. They used it to take out cameras from hundreds of yards away. If I find it ill post that link.

Thinkpad T60 Tablet. Small, 8 hours of battery, no more paper with the tablet

You can use the button but can call also setup a timer. Figure out how long it should take to fill up the tank and add 10mins so if they don't hit the button the pump will shut off. Is there special type of relay you need to use around gas? You could do something really slick with a Isonas reader and Axis ip camera. Anytime someone swipes the Axis camera could email him a couple of images to his cell phone. just an idea

Are you just getting into Access control? Check out Isonas. http://www.isonas.com

How do you setup 802.1x? Does anyone have a quick setup guide? I want to use this with Axis cameras and hopefully Isonas access control.

The problem with PTZs is they can only look in one direction at a time. If i was doing a money no object install I would use Megapixels and PTZs. You could get detailed overall image and be able to zoom in with the PTZ. I think PTZs are better if someone is monitoring the system. Megapixels are better when the system is just for recording. If I remember correctly Avigilon's 16MP is around $9000.00 without the SLK lens. I wonder when the first Megapixel PTZ camera is going to be released?

Cat5 w/ punchdown blocks

This is my weapon of choice for fishing wire. I like all of their products. I have used the Wallscope on a couple of jobs and used it to fish some stuff that would not be possible without it -

IP panel-free access control
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in General Access Control Discussion
I was on the phone again with Isonas tech support. Everything is running perfect I just had some questions about the software and I didn't feel like reading the manual. Once again I was one the phone for about an hour and I think I made a friend. I will sell this product and put my name behind it. I also found out you can power maglocks with POE. The POE output for mags/strikes is 12 volt min .5amps you even have power left over for the REX motion and/or lighted REX button. I found many maglocks that use less then .5amps even 1600lb ones. -
What is the Lan IP address of the DVR/NVR? 192.168.1.101 or 192.168.1.02 I would set that up with a static IP address. When I type in http://64.30.208.75:9123 it should go to your DVR/DVR. But it doesn't it goes to your login of your Linksys WRT54G router. You do not have port forwarding setup right. READ THIS If that doesn't help PM me your user and password so I can set it up.

Call there Tech Support...... They are very good. -
you have listed 2 different IP addresses and 2 different ports. to access the system do you enter 192.168.1.02:9123 or 192.168.1.101:8080? to access from the wan you would enter your WAN:either 9129 or 8080

Cat5 w/ punchdown blocks
thewireguys replied to vse's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Easiest way to run wire is pull the whole run in one shot and in your case use 7 boxes of wire. Think about ho much extra labor will be involved in the punchdown or patch panel -
IP panel-free access control
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in General Access Control Discussion
The PowerNet reader with keypad came today. Very cool product. Very easy to install when using a strike. Run one cat5 to the reader then splice the strike to the wire pigtale. Alot less wire and labor. The software is very powerful but unless your using it everyday you would need to keep the manual handy and your normal person would have a hard time rappin there head around it. They need to make there software more end user friendly other wise it is a great product. I was on the phone with there tech support for about 2 hours very helpful I enjoyed talking with them. I think with this product I could do the same install as a panel system ( talking strikes) for hundreds less per door. -
What philosophy (approach) to take with selecting cameras?
thewireguys replied to cwd10's topic in Security Cameras
Without the PTZ you can do it for around 1800 without installation with good equipment. A good PTZ will cost you around $1800 alone. I recommend you say your money till you get a better budget. -
207w's dropping connection, must reboot
thewireguys replied to metafizx's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Who are you talking to on there support team? Try resetting the camera to factory default: System Options -> Maintenace And setting it up again. I haven't had any problems with any of there product except for the one I dropped and they replaced it no questions asked. -
Double check your port forwarding setup. Did you open the ports on the router? Do you have your firewall turned on?
