How can I run VGA or DVI up to ~200FT?
thewireguys replied to gfdcxgfd's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Yeah, Cool Stuff! Have you ever used it? looks pricey. Do you get Cabling Business Magazine? I think I may have seen rapidrun featured there. We did an install were we ran a bunch of pre-made VGA cables for a client. What a nightmare... Never did find an easy way to do it. We used pull socks but it was still snaggy. Use it all the time!!!! I used to run 5 R-G6 for component video. With the Rapidrun I can install them in a quarter of the time and you only have to drill a 3/4" hole for the wire. -

Vista Gadget for Axis cameras
thewireguys posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This really cool and works very well. CoconutView lets you connect to Axis network cameras and video encoders. Displays live JPG motion on your desktop, useful for monitoring your security camera or viewing public cams for fun. Just set URL and refresh interval. -
Video/Audio Encoder/Decoder Recommendations?
thewireguys replied to prairietech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You said in the first post this is going in a outdoor enclosure. Are you plan on using this outside? I had the 247s but I don't have mic for it But I am trying out the 207W with audio and it is not in sync it is a little behind. I would try a Slingbox -

thewireguys replied to jevs's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would run the wires now and save your money and do it right later on. $150.00 dome cameras are going to be useless. Mounting the cameras is easy. Drill 3/4 or 7/8 inch hole though the aluminum install a wire grommet. The dome cameras will be surface mounted so you need to find a some meat behind the aluminum. Mount the camera so it covers the wire hole and screw it into the wood. What are you using for house audio and automation? -
hello, Check out VideoIQ. This product will be shipping in a month or so. You can get the non megapixel cameras with either a 80gig or 160gig harddrive.

Video/Audio Encoder/Decoder Recommendations?
thewireguys replied to prairietech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would use the Axis 247s encoder with audio. (It is small enough to find is a 2 gang electrical box) $499.00 Use the Axis 292 decoder with audio. It is bigger then the 247s (but that should not matter.) The 292 can sequence up to 128 encoders and cameras. I have to look up the price but it think $699.00 PM me if you have any questions Axis 292 Axis 247s -

MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Thanks Rory, That was the best I can get the KT&C focus. This specs of that camera are better then what you get. The KT&C does better with more light but I would not get another one. My neighbor to the left has is small I would say 50w light on but trust me it's dark out their. I was just comparing the Arecont to a Analog camera in low light. I would be testing the Bosch LTC0495 but 2 of them that I ordered form Anixter where bad out of the box. I waiting for my refund so I can order a new Megapixel to test -

MORE NITE SHOTS with the Arecont. This time I have Arecont 3130M vs KT&C SLL650BHE and Axis 247s It is VERY dark out back I can hardly see my shed with my eyes. Arecont 3130M (4mm arecont lens) KT&C SLL650BHE (1/3"b/w EXvew ccd, 600 TV lines, .001Lux with a Tamron 1/3 2.8-12mm auto iris lens) This is the best shot I could get. For those of you who say Megapixel cameras can't see in the dark I think you gonna start to eat your words. With the Arecont you have no problem reading the CCTV sign. -

I'm getting 26fps at night 1.3Megapixels and 21fps daytime @ 3megapixels with the Arecont 3130M. Here is a night time image. I get good frame rates and good light images with the Arecont. -

check out this thread for some real images from Megapixel cameras including the Arecont 3130M. http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=11322 Looking at a Megapixel camera is like seeing HDTV for the first time it is amazing. Put any analog camera up against a Megapixel and you will see what I mean. The Arecont is a good all around camera just keep in mind it does require a lot of hard drive space. Let me know if you have an questions. -
Most IT guys I know are very smart with computers but have know clue how to install anything but a computer. I think installers have the edge because it takes experience to fish wires and install products in the correct applications. Stuff you can't learn from reading a book.

I would never stream a 1.3 or 3 megapixel camera. I would record megapixel resolution and stream something a lot more reasonable. -

thewireguys replied to si_kungs's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Check these guys out..... http://www.engeniustech.com/datacom/products/ I have 2 of the EOC-3610S-EXT in client bridge mode. I had no porblem sending 4 Axis 211a camera at 680 * 480 @ 30fps from my basement to my 2nd floor with no problem. Also I set them up in two buildings about 150 yards apart with the access point just setting on desks. A camera on one end and my NVR on the other no problems at 30 fps. These are nice products at a great price. Also checkout the Zyxel 2WG very powerful wireless router.
