thewireguys replied to bearclaw's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have the same camera and have it working with ACC 5. There is specific firmware on the FTP site that works with Avigilon. -

Do you have a link to this firmware? I just checked the FTP site and that firmware was not listed. -

Do you have a link to the camera that part number doesn't show up in searches. Do you have ACC 5 configured to record on motion? Do you have motion detection configured on the camera? What verison of the firmware are you running on the cameras? Have you spoke with your integrator about this issue? What have they said? -
The new Mobotix software is going to be pretty amazing!
thewireguys replied to ssnapier's topic in General Digital Discussion
I think they are going to have a very long and uphill battle to win customers and integrators back. Most Mobotix integrators that I know have switched to other solutions and customer have been burned so they are also looking at other solutions. I did see the canned demo of the new VMS at ISC. It looked ok but again it was canned and not live from cameras. -

front door camera
thewireguys replied to ultimase's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The Hikvision DS-2CD6412FWD-10 1.3MP is out as I have installed a couple already. If your front door is covered I see no reason why it will not work as long is water will not hit the lens directly I see no issues. FYI the Axis outdoor version is NOT a pinhole lens and it SUCKS in low light. -
The DAQ stuff looks nice.

We just installed Avigilon's new access control solution ACM. Right now these is geared towards enterprise customers but it is managed via web browser and currently uses Mercury controls. Soon they will be adding HID and other controllers to the supported hardware list.

Avigilon now works in Chrome and Safari
thewireguys posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I know a lot of people have been asking for non Active-X browser support and now it's here. The latest release of Avigilon ACC 5.2.0.20 adds HTML5 support in the Gateway server!! -
Power over ethernet questions
thewireguys replied to redsleeve's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
most cameras we have on one PTMP link is 6 Avigilon 5MP bullets at 7FPS. Rocket M5 with 2 NanoBridge M and Toughswitches As everyone else stated shielded cable is a must and RF Armor is very helpful -
Power over ethernet questions
thewireguys replied to redsleeve's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you are talking about Mikrotik SXT vs Ubnt nano, I have been told SXT is ok up to 5km because it has strange beam pattern?! So I have always been looking at ubnt nanobridge. Now there is new equipment - nanobeam. If I ever do wifi link, its gonna be with nanobeam m5 300 Nanobeam M5 300 will be total overkill unless your doing a long range PTP link. NBE-M5-16, NBE-M5-19 will be used the most. The longest link we worked on was 37miles using rockets and RD-5G-34 dishes -

Can I send HD-SDI Signal over Wireless?
thewireguys replied to Nathanmf's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
There is nothing out there currenlty that transmits the signal properly. That is not technicality true as HD-SDI is transmitted via wireless in the broadcast world. -
Power over ethernet questions

To power Routerboard's wireless APs. They have a whole line of wireless gear like UBNT that is extremely powerful (feature wise) but not for a beginner user. -KNo1B7K-YY Routerboard/Mikrotik has some very powerful low cost routers which are very popular with WISPs. -
Avigilon moving video to a new drive
thewireguys replied to 1Diesel's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You will be able to change the volume size but moving video can be tricky. I would try this: 1)Copy video to new drive 2)Power off machine and unplug the power for the old drive. 3)Power up machine and change the new drive so the drive letter matches the old drive. 4) Restart the machine 5) See if Avigilon sees the new drive as the old one. 6) If Avigilon does see the new drive then stop ACC5 server > click Storage > Change Volume Size If that doesn't work call support they are the best in the business. -
HOW serious is the malware issue in Hikvision Recorders
thewireguys replied to SECUCHUCK's topic in Digital Video Recorders
I just heard something about this too. There is some backdoor access built into the DVR/NVRs and maybe the cameras. I am trying to get more info on this. If the US government can force CISCO and others to give them backdoor access there is NO doubt in my mind that China has done the same thing. -

To make port forwarding alittle easier I normally switch the Gateway port from 80 to 38884. This way I can port forward the whole range 38880 to 38884. -

Is 3MP enough for a fisheye camera?
thewireguys replied to Paranoid Pete's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
We looked at both the 3mp and 5mp Hik fisheye and I was disappointed with the image quality. They had it running though on of there NVRS so we where not able to see the image directly. I still plan to order one to test since the people in the booth really didn't know what they where doing. I must add that the whole experience in the Hik booth was very disappointing. They where bashing all of there OEM partners and didn't offer any real reasons why we should buy Hikvision products over the OEM partners. -
I am working on some projects where I need covert housings for cameras. Anyone have a supplyer for housings like this with the window behind the sticker?
