I have used mini cable for plasma and automation systems. It's easier to pull but I terminating that wire just sucks . The compression ends we would use we easy to pull off. Over all just difficult to work with and time consuming to get terminated correctly. I will not use that wire anymore

MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Arecont 3130M 4mm lens 1.3megapixel Night shot This camera is growing on me. I would like to try better lens I think the image would improve alot. Overall I'm happy with this camera although I wish it was easier to setup like a Axis product. Also it's a lot smaller then you think. Low Light Setting: Quality Low Light Setting: Moon Light TM Low Light Setting: Balanced -
If your looking for an IP based solution check out the Axis 233D. "With the powerful 35x optical and 12x digital zoom, AXIS 233D can zoom in on small and distant objects, allowing for example license plates to be clearly identified from a distance of 160 m (525 ft). The AXIS 233D can follow a walking person at a distance of 400 m (1300 ft) and pan/tilt to any preset in less than 1.5 seconds."

camera power supply decision
thewireguys replied to mr.verbal's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Without knowing the cameras power requirements or how far away the cameras are from the power supply we can't give you a exact model number. Altronix makes very good power supply's and this one might work for you. Altronix -

camera power supply decision
thewireguys replied to mr.verbal's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I would use a multi output fused power supply. Its a cleaner easier install and you can plug it in to a UPS for battery backup. I hate wallworts. -

IPs and bandwidth
thewireguys replied to sinbad's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Aimetis just did a test with 200 IP cameras and the basic license on one Dell server. I forget the fps they used but it can be done one server. But you will need a lot of storage. -
You could use the Axis 247s video servers. They are very small (fit in a 2 gang box), Audio input, and POE power for the cameras and the server. You would also get motion and audio detection. The are $499.00 so it would not be cheap but you would have a very clean easy install. Power, audio and video over one cat5. Axis 247s

Arecont 3130, disappointing image quality
thewireguys replied to Kiwi's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
My image quality is better then what your getting but not as good as their demo images on their website. I have the same 4mm Arecont lens and I think that is the problem. Also I find I get better results when I make the adjustment in the AV software then when from the web interface. What is your sharpness set at? -

What IP cameras work with the AVerDiGi EB1704 HYBRID DVR.
thewireguys posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
I see on their website the are compatible with a couple of cameras from Axis, Vivotek and ACTi. But it have read some posts on here with people recommending them with Arecont and other megapixel cameras. If we could start a list of compatible cameras that would be great. Also if it can record megapixel cameras it is capable of full megapixel resolution? Also can you view 2 units as one with the software. Say coustomer has 4 cameras with this unit and wants 2 more cameras. Can you view all 6 camera on one screen at the same time? -

need some info bump -
Also check out EnGenius Wireless products. I'm using 2 of their EOC-3610S outdoor access points and they work great and they are cheap. You can mount these on the outside of the building so you can get the best signal. If the DVR is no network accessible you can use video encoders to stream the cameras to your office. Then you can have both offices record on one NVR.

I used the Axis Design Tool for the calulations. Remember I said the software/cameras can do it but I never said it would be cheap . Viewing: 30fps @ 704*480 (mjpeg) compression @ 10 bandwidth for 1 camera 11.9 Mbit/s bandwidth for 16 cameras 191.3 Mbit/s Recording: Same specs storage requirements (1 day) 1.9TB storage requirements (7 days) 13.7TB I would not setup a system like this because of the storage requirements. I think a better setup would be using motion detection. Because if I use the same setting and change the recording to 24hr @ 1FPS and ramp up to 30fps on motion (30% of the time) you will cut your storage requirements to 654.6 GB per day and 4.4TB per week. Specs for PC: I wouldn't go with anything less then a quad core Xeon setup with min 1GB of ram. This is for the Axis Camera Station so keep in mind all NVR software is different.

Most if it not all IP camera NVR software can do this. Axis Video insight Aimetis All can

Is there a monthly service fee for Slingbox? You could hook up a camera and that would be a nice video server which you could watch cameras anywhere.
-
How many cameras do you want? I think your budget is unrealistic for all of your requirements!

I have been testing their 2WG (Firewall) GS2024 (Switch). Great price points, nice build quality and the best part, their tech support is in the US. I would like to here from someone with more networking experience compare their products to Cisco , Netgear, Linksys, Sonicwall....... Zyxel

Video Analytics with IP Cameras
thewireguys replied to Daryl733's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You need http://www.Aimetis.com . Their video analytics is very good. Their motion detection can tell the difference between people and cars. When you use it on a camera that is outside you it will ignore trees and other objects that are none threats. Axis software has motion detection and tampering alarms but you can only use a maximum of 25 cameras. Aimetis you can have unlimited cameras. But keep in mind if video analytics requires a lot possessing power from your server. You can download a free 60day trial of the Aimetis software on their website. Let me know if you have anymore questions. -
Looking for feedback on Zyxel products
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in Computers/Networking
I use the G3 for both. I have it to play around with and to try different stuff with IP cameras. You can set it up so the aircard is the back up to Wan 1 or you can have it the other way around Wan1 be the back up for the aircard. You can also setup load balancing so you can use the aircard and Wan 1 at the same time. The 2WG also has a modem that you can use for backup of Wan1 and the Aircard. I am very happy with it. -
Looking for feedback on Zyxel products
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in Computers/Networking
Yes they are replaceable it's a smaller connection (thinks its SMA).. The wireless is very powerful a lot stronger then my Linksys AP. You can adjust the wireless power if you need a smaller range. The 2WG doesn't look like much but it comes with a 750 page manual, it has a lot of features most of which are over my head.
