Motion Detect at Dawn and Dusk
thewireguys replied to JohnAJohnson's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
This is because your cameras (link most cameras or VMS software) do pixel based detection. Basically what that means is when a pixel changes it is seen as motion. Most people assume when they hear motion detection that is it only what THEY want it to record but this is not the case. What you are looking for is analytic based motion detection which can detect humans or cars. Here is an example of analytics used with a thermal camera. This solution will only record when a object is detected and a rule is violated. 0PUbvwwKbgU -
LPR Car Access Solution (for entry/exit gate)
thewireguys replied to Nathanmf's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Agreed but you can over power head light/tail lights with IR and up the shutter to get plate reads -
I know one company has power over coax and SDI What happens when that one company goes out of business?
-
12 or 24 Volts power NOT up the coax.

Avigilon's bullet cameras are very good at getting plates day and night with the build in adaptive IR. I have seen them work up to about 150 feet with additional IR with moving traffic. -
WE use this unit and are happy http://global.dymo.com/enCA/Products/RHINO_5200_kit.html They normally have spicals where if you order 10 or 20 labels you get a free printer

The only way to truly test the coax is to order a DVR/camera and test them onsite. If you don't have the funds or not willing to do this PLEASE PASS ON THIS JOB. -

That is the million dollar question. You never know what quaity coax was installed or if there is any issue with it. It's one of those things you have to try to see if it will work. -

Vigitron has some awesome IP over coax products http://www.vigitron.com/4/Vi2401_Single_Port_MaxiiCopper_Ethernet_Extender_over_Coax.aspx Keep in mind you're going to pay about $400 a camera for these converts. Unless it's more expensive to run new cable it makes sense to run new cable instead of using adaptors. -
Onvif question..

Hikision works perfect with Avigilon you just need to have the correct firmware. -

Axis cameras with Avigilon vms? Anyone use this combo?
thewireguys replied to cavcom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You will be very disappointed with Axis's video motion detection. Avigilon's is much more reliable and way easier to configure. -

Download, install, learn, come back and say sorry or, shoot the question off to Milestone and ask them to prove their product... how much is the cheapest Avigilon compatible 3mp camera? does it get near a $130 Dahua? but if they offer it free that they are making their money anywhere. not saying it's not a good solution, but I'm yet to see anyone offering a (quality) free ride. Hik cameras work great -
video wall
thewireguys replied to sameerbatavia's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't believe that for a second Milestone allows lots of view however they have an actual video wall product that's quite expensive, I bet that no-one else does exactly what it does without charging appropriately of note, I have no idea exactly what it does.. sooooo Avigilon's VM is separate client software that you control using the ACC 5 Client. Does anyone sill install Arecont's ?
thewireguys replied to Maniek's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Remember you have to disconnect the camera from your VMS to make changes in the web GUI. That might be why it was slow when you where making changes. -

Just checked your link. "New Video Wall Features New Version 4.9 Video Wall functionality enables switching of Views on the video wall. User-created views can be displayed via event monitoring-based triggers such as motion, alarms and serial data. Video Wall is a standard, included feature with exacqVision Pro and Enterprise at no additional cost."
