What VMS are you using? Some have a video wall feature that make this very easy. -
Jpeg 2000 standalone help please?
thewireguys replied to hiwatt's topic in General Digital Discussion
JPEG2000 is a great compression if you know how and when to use it. That said I would not use it for analog cameras and H.264 DVR would be a better fit. -
Does anyone sill install Arecont's ?

We have been selling some of the 180/365 cameras but I am not happy about it.... My main issue is that their support is terrible. -
Best way to setup mobile IP camera connected over 4G/LTE
thewireguys replied to tweiss's topic in General Digital Discussion
I think you have this confused with a different M2M account. The one the rest of us are talking about means Machine 2 Machine. https://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/business/shop/machine-to-machine.html -
Best way to setup mobile IP camera connected over 4G/LTE
thewireguys replied to tweiss's topic in General Digital Discussion
We are just starting out with Verizon and in the process of launching a new solution so I don't have the numbers yet. Our other customers where using Sprint and they have unlimited data do it hasn't been an issue yet. Also with the M2M account the plans are ours not the customer but all of our accounts are pooled so overages will not been an issue for us. Yes there are solutions that will "push" the connections. PM me for more info. -
Best way to setup mobile IP camera connected over 4G/LTE
thewireguys replied to tweiss's topic in General Digital Discussion
We do this a lot. If your plan is to stream the camera 24/7 you're going to have a problem. Unless you have a government account you will not have unlimited data. Verizon (our partner) has a max of 10GB per month. Sprint has unlimited if your a government account. Buellwinkle is a little confused about the Verizon setup because this is not entirely true"$500 ransom for a fixed IP address" The $500 fee for the setup of your M2M account which gives you all the static IP addresses you want. This is not a $500 per IP fee. The M2M account is designed for solution providers like us who package Verizons LTE service with our products. One really nice feature is with with account our contracts with Verizon are only month to month. -
why is iscsi needed? a geovision pc can't see a mapped drive? Not sure if it can or can not. I like iSCSI and have found it it to be easy to setup and works reliably.

Synology has some great units that work well via iSCSI. Just put a good nic card in your DVR and you should be good to go. http://www.synology.com/en-us

Looking for respected USA IP Cam and NVR Online Stores
thewireguys replied to pcmcg's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I just find it interesting that N elly gets banned from the site months ago and you are clearly breaking the forum rules but you get away with it. You are always promoting your review site which has it's own forum. Please do not use this forums resources to promote other forums/communities of any type. For example, don't use the PM or email system to send messages to members asking them to visit a site that is currently being censored by the forum. You finally admit you have a another company that sells IP cameras and you are using this site and your review site to drive trafic to that site. Also Retailers/Manufactures are not allowed to post their own urls in replies or direct members to their site(s). I really don't care because to don't have a horse in this race I just find it interesting that there is such a double standard when it comes to the rules of this forum. -

Using IP cameras as game trail cams?
thewireguys replied to RustyJL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Using a omnidirectional will only make the problem worse. Your only option for non-LOS is 900Mhz and high gain antennas but even this might not work. -
Using IP cameras as game trail cams?
thewireguys replied to RustyJL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The $500 Charge for Verizon is for there M2M account setup. Not only to you get unlimited public static IP address your also don't have to sign up for a long term contract. With the M2M account you only have month to month contacts. Also remember they are not UNLIMITED data accounts -

Really?? How many of these "$40" cameras have you placed outside 24/7 for years? How well do they handle ALL lighting conditions? -

90-Camera IP Installation - Need recommendations for switche
thewireguys replied to markm88's topic in Computers/Networking
THIS.. Love the HP stuff, the V1920 have a 24 port that's around $800 (all ports 15w, if you get a backup for the switch you can then supply 375w over the whole switch) if you need further the 5120 series will do 48 ports all PoE+ managed with BBU (expect to pay $3k for it though) I'd always go managed on a reasonable size install, remote camera power usage stats and able to flip a port is golden! Yea I have a 5120 but I think it is overkill for all but complicated network needs. The 2920 series is cheaper and the also have POE+ on all ports plus that have hot swappable power supplies. -
Control Your Garage door opener
thewireguys replied to okshadow's topic in General Digital Discussion
Controlbyweb can do this with feedback. Lots of cameras will need a relay between the camera and the motor. The Controlbyweb unit does not. After using both the Controlbyweb relay and a IP camera to control Garage doors I find Controlbyweb to faster and easier to use. -
IP Based Security Systems not as safe or as great
thewireguys replied to varascope's topic in General Digital Discussion
I agree with everything you posted but the last part. Most large companies with multiple sites will have their cameras accessible from one central command center. The remote connections will be connected via VPN or leased fiber. -

For our large projects 200+ cameras we use HP Procurve switches. http://h17007.www1.hp.com/us/en/networking/products/switches/HP_2920_Switch_Series/index.aspx I have been very happy with them and they come with a FREE lifetime next day replacement warranty. -
Dahua's motion detection will not work with Avigilon even though they are ONVIF. I would recommend Hikvision cameras which work with Avigilon.

This product works very well for remote controlling garage doors with 2-way feedback. They have an app you can install on your smart phone or you can control it via the web interface. http://www.controlbyweb.com/webrelay/
