Avigilion ACC 4.12 to 5.02 Should We Upgrade?

What version of Avigilon are you running? Enterprise/Standard/Core? How many servers do you have? -
18 IP cam design
thewireguys replied to robert's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That's the point there is no switch configuration with a managed switch unless you get to higher end gear. All you would have to do is setup IP address of the switch if you want to access it. Having access to the switch GUI is very helpful if you ever need to power cycle a POE device. -

Hikvision with Avigilon CORE software would be a killer combo for you. -
What's the consensus on the Cisco SF300-24 POE Switch
thewireguys replied to habusho's topic in Computers/Networking
Fair point, but my support contract paid for itself overnight. We had a switch take a power hit, and literally smoke out a telco closet. I had a Cisco rep on site and helping me swap out the unit for a new one in 90 minutes. Depending on the importance of the circuit, that might be worth it to your customer. Free lifetime support with next day advanced replacement with HP. -
What's the consensus on the Cisco SF300-24 POE Switch
thewireguys replied to habusho's topic in Computers/Networking
We have used a lot of the SF300 POE switches and now have moved on to HP Procurve. If you want support from Cisco be prepared to pay for a support contract -
Avigilion ACC 4.12 to 5.02 Should We Upgrade?
thewireguys replied to olds403's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Another really nice feature of ACC 5 is we now have the ability to see the server status and the ability to save the system status as a PDF. This is extremely helpful for documenting the system. -
Avigilion ACC 4.12 to 5.02 Should We Upgrade?
thewireguys replied to olds403's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I thought that at first to but it is really growing on me. What are you running? Core, Standard or Enterprise? Also I don't refer to it as a "upgrade" this is new software with lots of cool new features coming. -
Avigilion ACC 4.12 to 5.02 Should We Upgrade?
thewireguys replied to olds403's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
If you have more then one server and running enterprise I highly recommend it. If you don't have the gateway licenses I also recommend it since the gateway license is built into ACC 5.You don't need any of your ACC 4 licenses for the upgrade process which takes about 10 minutes per server. Servers with an ACC 4 camera channel license added after September 1st, 2012 qualify for the free upgrade program. You will have to change the ports on your router and upgrade the client software manually which can take some time with larger systems. -

Is it really worth it to save couple of bucks? If you have a support issues it will cost you alot of money and time to ship stuff back.

thewireguys replied to ssgohan434's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Does Acti's VMS support POS integration? If not you might what to look at another VMS solution like Avigilon which supports POS systems. Have a look: 4b_FD_1n4eM -

Question about high-end IP cameras
thewireguys replied to jackleblack's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Mobotix has a nice rugged design they are really falling behind all other manufactures. All the Mobotix dealers that I know are using other products now. 1) No H.264 support 2) US support is very spotty 3) Price 4) Software is way over contemplated and not user friendly -
HD-SDI Cameras vs. IP Cameras where Live View is Critical
thewireguys replied to habusho's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
OK this makes no sense at all and you will have no where near 2 seconds in latency. If there is more then one person at the door you will see them. It's not like when you press the button the video will magically disappear for 2 sec. You WILL see the video the whole time and you WILL see any tailgaters entering the door. The only advantage I see with going with an analog or HD-SDI system is it's cheaper and easier to put up spot monitors. Your making something about nothing with the latency. -
Question about high-end IP cameras
thewireguys replied to jackleblack's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
http://www.skilouise.com/conditions/mountain-cam.php Looks like Mobotix cameras in that link. They might have said upload images every 15 min because that is all they know. Real time streaming is very easy to setup and embed into your site. I would not recommend Avigilon for this project. Avigilon makes secuirty cameras not "web cameras" My first choice over Mobotix and Axis would be Hikvision. -
