  1. There is absolutely no need to setup a VLAN on your network. You have one nic, one switch and your cameras. The switch default ip is 192.168.1.20 Set your one nic to 192.168.1.10 (plug your switch into this port.) Set you cameras to 192.168.1.30 on up Set your other nic on your computer to DHCP and see what address you get. If that nic receives a ip address on the same subnet 192.168.1.x then you will need to change your to 192.168.2.x or any other subnet then 192.168.1.x.
  2. Ok first thing is turn your POE ports to 48 volts. What did you set your cameras IP addresses to?
  3. Yes you need to setup a subnet on your camera network. Meaning you need to static IP your cameras, switch and NIC card on your camera network to IP address on the same subnet which needs to be different then your internet network. If your internet NIC card has an ip address of 192.168.1.x then you need to use a different subnet say 192.168.2.x for your cameras.

    growing cannabis in Washington state...

If you don't see any value in keeping an eye on your employees or monitoring your business processes then stick with the the minimum requirements. Storage will be your biggest cost in the and you are going to have a very hard time finding budget systems that will have enough storage for 45 days of continuous storage. On a side note I would love to meet the bone head who came up with the specs for this.

Going to need a lot more money invested into the server for the storage requirements. 8 2MP cameras recording 24/7 for 45 days
  6. If your NAS device has iSCSI you can use that with any version of Milestone.
  7. Not very good advice if you want reliable detection. Once bugs are inside game over.
  8. Yes this is very easy to do but NOT with your $500 per location budget.
  9. Have to ask why Arecont? Also how many failed cameras have you had? Do you use any other manufacturer cameras in your system?

    ONVIF Recording

Since you are using 3rd party cameras you have to configure the motion settings in the cameras.

Advice for Law Enforcment interview recording eqipment

With our law enforcement customers they are looking for high quality video and audio. Also they really like the bookmarking feature which allows them to enter notes in the VMS about the interview.

Advice for Law Enforcment interview recording eqipment

I have seen dedicated interview room solutions but they a not cheap. So far Avigilon has worked very well for our police department needs. Only issue they have had is exporting hours of HD video uses a lot of DVDs.
  14. Nope any pixel based motion detection will have this.

We use Avigilon VMS/Cameras with ETS Mics
  16. Where do you plan on deploying this solution?

NVRs that are not device specific?

If your cameras are ONVIF they MIGHT work with a ONVIF NVR.
  18. That is the old style connector. The new Hikvision version includes weather proof connectors.
  19. Avigilon LightCatcher cameras have a maximum exposure range of 1/8 to 1/8000 Axis Q1604 has a range of 2s to 1/29500 with WDR off. When WDR is off this is when the camera is best in low light.
  20. I have both the Q1604 and Avigilon LightCatcher cameras both run very low light color images at 1/30 exposure at 30FPS
  21. Sorry for the confusion. It's a EMC NS480 NAS but since we are using HBA cards it sees it as a SAN. I agree direct attached storage is the best. We do a lot of that too. I love server PORN
  22. Fisheye camera that works well in low light?? Please post images as this is very hard to believe.
  23. I just had to deal with there support for a camera that was out of warranty. They charged me $500 for the replacement camera (refurbished) which I was fine with. What I didn't understand is they would NOT send the new camera until the broken camera was returned which makes no sense since they already had my CC and I told them if they did not receive the broken camera they could charge me for it. I had to beg and plead with a manger for approval but they finally gave in. Oh and did I mention that they whole process from the time I first contacted support took about 2 months
  24. Milestone/ONSSI are the only VMS that I know of that require high speed drives for short term storage. I just find it interesting that Avigilon pulls video faster then both of them using slower drives.
  25. You guys like to make mountains out of mole hills. IP cameras are not that difficult if you take the time to learn
