Because if they have to transcode the video they will need even more processing power. Dual stream is the way to go. -

Can you guess the analog?
thewireguys replied to luckyfella's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It depends on the system. With Avigilon we have full control of the cameras via the client software so we only have to forward the ports of the server for remote configuration of the cameras. This is much cleaner, faster and more secure. If you do forward the ports of the cameras I strongly recommend you change them from standard ports and change the default user and password. I would also stay away from cameras that have back door access with user and passwords that can't be changed. -

PIR + IP Camera + NVR Software
thewireguys replied to gonzogg's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I would rephrase that statement. You need to find a camera that is on your VMS supported list that supports digital I/O. I agree, but I do have some flexibility, this system is still on design/testing state, I will be using OEM hikvision cameras writing to a NAS, and I can choose a software for alarm notifications an daily reviews. I have been trying Axxon Next and I have been able to eliminate most of the bugs false alarms, but still it pick up a few bugs at night. If your using a VMS solution you do not need the cameras to record to the NAS. Your VMS platform will handle all of the recording. -

PIR + IP Camera + NVR Software

Sounds great, but those cameras are expensive. I do not have any problem running the wires for the 12 V and I think is nice to be able to control how much distance to cover with the motion detector. Not only that but it's better to be able to place the motion detectors where you need them. Having the motion detector mounted in the camera can really limit your system design. -

Avigilon-dead POE
thewireguys replied to capz's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Try using the reset button on the camera. I have been told that sometimes this can fix the issue if not it will have to be sent back. Normally you would receive an advanced replacement but since you purchased this on ebay you might be SOL. -

When you export in AVE there is no option to adjust the compression. You do have the ability to skip frames. -
Avigilon editions

That is correct you will need to upgrade your current server to standard and purchase standard licenses if you want to connect to both of them at the same time. -

PIR + IP Camera + NVR Software

So you want to trigger a digital input on a camera and have a event happen in the client software? If this is the case basically every major VMS platform supports this feature. -

Need some ideas for mounting this booger...
thewireguys replied to dorough's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Those areas closest to the building will be covered by 10 cams under the eaves. Seams like a lot of cameras for that little building. 2" thickwall through the roof would be another option but keep in mind you are going to put a huge lighting rod on the building. also check out these guys: http://www.rohnnet.com/non-penetrating-roof-mounts -

Why not mount it on the large light tower that is in the back of the image? -
IP cameras with 2-way audio
thewireguys replied to atari37's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Can you tell me what would be the difference and what you would need for the two ? Thanks. Line-level input you will need a mic with a amplifier (and you will need power for the mic) Mic-level you can order a mic without the amplifier (and then you will not need power for the mic)
