Opinions on 2-way audio and getting it to reliably work?
thewireguys replied to ryuker16's topic in General Digital Discussion
Axis cameras will be a major upgrade over the Foscam. If you have everything configured properly the audio will work fine -
Milestone X-Protect Go
thewireguys replied to icamera's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I decided to download Milestone GO to see how it is. The last time I tested Milestone was about 5 years ago when cameras where licenses by MAC address . So far it works well and has every feature you would want but I do fined it to be overly complicated to setup and use. Maybe I am just spoiled by Avigilon but I just don't think it is very intuitive other wise it's not bad. I must say one of my favorite features is the mobile viewing and how you can push video from your phones camera back your milestone server. I also like how the views that you setup in your client get pushed out to the mobile AP. I really think this is a smart idea and it works very well. If your looking for free software it's not a bad option. -

Avigilon VMS ACC 5
thewireguys replied to ak357's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The Gateway licenses is a license in 4.0 so you can connect unlimited mobile devices (Apple/Android) and view your cameras. You only needed one license per server. With 5.0 they removed the Gateway license, audio license and some 3rd party access control licenses. So all you need now is the camera licenses!! very cool 4.0 client will not connect to 5.0 server and 5.0 client will not connect to 4.0 server. They are to totally different solutions and don't think of this a update this a redesign. Upgrades from 4.0 to 5.0 will not happen to Oct 2013 (5.2) and if you purchased 4.0 licenses after Sept 10 2012 with will be entitled to a complimentary upgrade license. -

It's Avigilon's policy not to post pricing on the web. Also it is very easy to get pricing all you have to do is contact a dealer.
-
Avigilon pricing is confidential so we can't post it on the web. If you want to talk prices PM me or another dealer.

thewireguys replied to cavcom's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You could use VideoIQ cameras with the built-in storage and analytics to only push video when people or cars are in the FOV. Exacq has their VMS plugin for Axis and other camera manufactures if you trust that Tyco will not destroy them in a couple of years -

$9000 budget. 4 camera small retail store. Need advice.
thewireguys replied to makoto's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Skip the NAS and the free Axis VMS. It is slow searching video and you have to port forward each camera if you want remote access. If you have to spend 9K for this system you can do way better then ACC. I can sell you a 4 camera Avigilon system for WELL under your budget and you will be much happier with this solution. PM me if your intrested -
Why not just use IP thermal cameras?

ONVIF and motion

ONVIF and motion
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
It depends on which version of ONVIF they are using. 2.2 and Profile S have motion support built-in but they have to be implemented in both the camera and VMS for it to work. Edit what I mean by implemented is just because they are 2.2 or Profile S that doesn't mean the motion/analytic flag is implemented. -
A few questions re the Mobotix Q24
thewireguys replied to ghurty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
What cameras are you happy with for restaurant/retail? Avigilon for VMS and cameras. How is Aimetis doing? I tested there software years ago and found it interesting but a little cumbersome to use. Have you sold any of the analytic licenses? -
A few questions re the Mobotix Q24
thewireguys replied to ghurty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You will find out quick this isn't the best camera for restaurants because most don't have enough light for this camera to function properly. The best advice I can give you is don't sell cameras sell solutions. You can have have the best camera in the world but if don't have easy to use and reliable software you will have very frustrated customers. -
A few questions re the Mobotix Q24
thewireguys replied to ghurty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have both the Q24 and M3007 and I like Axis's image better but it depends on how you plan to use this camera. If you want a standalone system without a server then the Q24 is a better fit. If you plan to use third party VMS software then the Axis would be better. Axis has H.264, 5MP imager and higher frame rate compared to the Mobotix camera and is about a 3rd the price. -

Security professionals, which IP software do you prefer?
thewireguys replied to Proactive_IC's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
we don't pay for SA (the support assurance) It's optional and honestly, while it's nice to think that you can upgrade to a later version when released, the version releases are that slow and there seems to be very little by way of new features with the new versions so I'm happy to just re-buy the whole package should something amazing come out or, stay with what we have (it's working fine now, chances are it's going to be working fine in 10 years) Fwiw, Milestone Package the Mobile Server (for mobile devices) separate to the software, and as such new version of it you can upgrade for free, also the device packs which upgrade Milestones capabilities to talk to camera's is also free, so really your only paying SA to either be able to: 1, Upgrade between versions of the software, so from Express to Professional 2, be able to patch, so in the case of Express, to go from 1.0b to 1.1 (we have sites on both, and I'm not really noticing any difference, these programs are very polished before they release anything) I generally don't call them for support, I've been sending any basic query's through the company I bought the software from (techcctv) and anything complex I just email them, we've yet to get charged for this come to think about it, if you don't want to use a NAS you can download the Milestone Xprotect GO version which is free, it has the limitations of not being able to support more than 8 camera's, will not talk to NAS systems, only keeps footage for 5 days, cannot do alarms & is limited to a single user.... but free is free Way more complicated. With Avigilon you have three options Core, Standard Enterprise plus you can add the Gateway license for mobile support. Software upgrades are free and so is the 24/7 phone support. -

So it sounds like milestone can not view the same camera live and recorded in a single client simultaneously. -

So what are your yearly support costs for Milestone? Do they still charge to call them for support?
