  1. ^^ Did your pricing include the server and yearly support?
  2. No doubt in my mind that Tyco will screw this up. I heard about this about a month ago but had to keep my lips closed http://www.securityinfowatch.com/news/10963863/tyco-to-acquire-vms-firm-exacq-technologies
  3. Tyco just acquired Exacq.... That will make things interesting for Exacq customers since Tyco always finds away to screw a good thing up.
  4. Yea check out Sony Gen 6 cameras. From the demos that we saw at ISC West I thought they where better then the Axis Lightfinder cameras.
  5. ^^^ Agreed a key stone type jack and a RJ-45 end is all you need.

    Solar powered CCTV setup

Nice but I am confused. Since you ran video cables from your house out to the camera why out just run 24VAC for the cameras?
  7. For a system that takes you one hour to configure how many cameras is the system?

    Fisheye Camera Coverage

The main concern is the how high the you are mounting the camera. The lower the better for fisheye lenses and keep in mind anything over 10ish feet from the camera will be for general coverage only. I would try to keep the camera mounted at 8-10ft for the best resolution. I have a Mobotix Q24mounted on the wall above my garage door and day time it works very well. There is no place to hide in front of my house

    High end cams for vehicle?

Your options for small HD IP cameras is very slim. Axis P1214-E is only 720P and not very good with any objects that are more then 15 feed away. Mobotix has a all-in-one solution with 2 5MP cameras (well maybe only 3MP images Mobotix isn't very clear) and a built in NVR. There are plenty of options for small vehicle computers and POE switches that run on 12VDC but I have a feeling all of the options will make your noise bleed.
  10. If your streaming over a WAN connection then you should definitely not have display quality at maximum.

    Avigilon 5MP bullet

The auto focus cameras do not like to be jarred. If you get a camera that does not focus you will need to factory default to recalibrate the focus.
  12. Thanks for the quick response. I don't need and don't use Maximum, but sometimes I have to drop from High (default) to Medium due to lagging responsiveness. What resource(s) would I need to increase so that I can leave the quality set to High with better responsiveness? Faster processor on the server? Faster processor on the client? Increased WAN bandwidth? Given that the client is more responsive some days compared to others, I'm guessing it is the WAN. Best, Christopher Is this over a LAN or WAN connection?

    Avigilon 5MP bullet

    did you contact support?
  14. Changing the setting to maximum disables hdsm which will increase bandwidth and CPU usage on your clients. It is advised to leave it at the default setting.
  15. I have found the Synology unit to be easier to use and have more features. Keep in mind I have the 8 bay unit and using it for multiple iSCSI targets and Network shares.

    Mobotix or Axis

^^ Wow looks a lot like what Videoiq has been doing for years dSWkUNr5mig I would be very interested to see how Axis will be able to implement that with the VMS. Will the VMS record only what the digital zoom is seeing or will the VMS record the full image. Will they let you setup a stream profile with digital tracking and one without? Videoiq recorded the full image.
  18. Well, I hoped you were wrong, while knowing all along you were right. This evening a thunderstorm was thoroughly convincing. I got a text message (and recording) with every flash of lightning. Earlier today the sun coming and going behind clouds triggered it, Sigh. I guess you gets what you pays for, as they say. There are detection algorithms that can work fine outdoors, it just isn't this one! Oh well. So will a PIR be fooled by moving trees or not? Any suggestions on which ones to use? Thanks for the info you sent on streams as well... Why not look at some of the other apps that add analytics to the camera? In my experience with many different IP camera manufactures Axis's box based motion detection (or any manufactures's box based including ACTI) is useless unless you have a controlled lighting environment.
  19. Good point when white light is preferred. Issues would be white at night time can introduce light pollution or you want to light up a large area. Some locations do not allow light pollution and normally IR is more cost effective when lighting up large areas. That being said most people would preferred to have color images over B/W.
  20. Yes normal riser rated cat5/6 does not like to be pulled below 32 degrees. I would use a outdoor rated cable if you can.
  21. Or you could just aim your IR higher, or get a wider angle IR, or reduce the shutter time on your camera so it absorbs less of the light Sounds great but in real world applications that I have seen reducing the output to get a proper exposure is a must. Aiming the IR unit so the light bounces of the ground or trees can help too. Shutter time can help too but adjusting the output and aiming the light typical give better results over a full 24 hour 365 days. Also add NuOptic to the IR list. They have IR, Whitelight and Hybrid units that have remotely adjustable FOV and power output.
  22. After installing hundreds of cameras at multiple ski resorts remote zoom/focus is a must in extreme climates IMHO
  23. Axis only has the IR on the P3364-LVE which is 1MP. As for ACTI the units I have installed a separate power supply for the cameras was needed for the unit to operate the max temperatures. I can tell you don't have much experience installing cameras in sub-zero environments.
  24. ^^ True but neither of those options have remote zoom/focus with adaptive IR. Also if you installing Avigilon's VMS it makes the most sense to install Avigilon's cameras.
  25. Make sure you check out the help file on the partner site for the power requirements. Off the top of my head you would want to use 802.AT for POE power.
