Great work Max!!! " title="Applause" /> " title="Applause" /> We all should come up with a testing standard in which we can easily and repeatedly test cameras in multiple locations. -
Apt complex is asking for a 16 cam wireless system.
thewireguys replied to fastdad's topic in System Design
I have done projects like this and we are starting on a apartment complex tomorrow that anther inexperienced company tried to do with wireless and failed miserably. If you don't have any wireless experience I would recommend you walk away or partner with someone that does. Like everyone stated above apartment complex's can be a very difficult environment for wireless camera systems because all the extra noise generated from all the wireless networks from the tenants. UNT makes nice low cost gear but you will have ZERO design or after support. If you really want to do this project I would recommend something like Fluildmesh another wireless company that will help you design the system and support you after the fact. And whatever you do do not use 2.4Ghz for wireless. You only have 3 non overlapping channels and chances they are already used X10 with all the tenants wireless networks. Good luck -
IP camera and PC No router near.

If you have a PC in the area that is on the network you can use a small switch to get a extra network port to plug the camera into. -
Avigilon bullet sample video
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That would be fine but in case you hadn't noticed this forum is not just people in the industry. It's also full of first time DIYers that want something for nothing. This forum used to have a lot of people in the industry on it but that has changed. -
Avigilon bullet sample video
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Smith is right. 99% of the requests that I get on this forum are for small 1-4 camera systems. This is not my target customer base nor is it Avigilon's. Also rememember this is mostly a DYI forum so customers want product that they can install themselves. So that means that you don't sell to them? Money is money. What are you getting at? If can help someone out I can/will but spending all day on the phone with someone about 1 camera when I am working on a couple of 100+ camera projects isn't really the best use of my time. -

I sure he's covered up with work in his own back yard like we are. To many Hospitals, Universities, Local, State, and Federal Government projects to deal with "Joe" from Chicago that wants a 1mp dome on his front porch to see if the neighbors dog is peeing on his grass. Smith is right. 99% of the requests that I get on this forum are for small 1-4 camera systems. This is not my target customer base nor is it Avigilon's. Need help finding outdoor PTZ with tracking
thewireguys replied to Bouci's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
No the tracking ability in the Axis cameras have not improved. I have seen a lot of tracking PTZ cameras and never have been impressed with any out in the wild. I think you will be very disappointed if you get one. The best analytic PTZ camera I have used was the IOI PTZ camera and the customer hated it. It was used to protect some water tanks for the small town and they always tracked the wrong objects even after hours on the phone with support configuring them. -

Avigilon bullet sample video
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm not arguing the fact that they may have the best product in the market (hence my desire to buy) I'm only saying that their "established channels" are dropping the ball with me, and from the sounds of it, a lot of other people as well. Imagine how "stellar" the growth would be if they could actually cash the checks of the rest of the people who are looking to buy, but hitting brick wall after brick wall. Avigilon does things a little different then other manufactures. They do not sign everyone up as a dealer so they have control over the product and have dealers that are competent at installing the product. This way they don't have massive support issues and upset customers because the product doesn't work the way it was designed. If you would like pricing please contact me via PM. -

Multiple Brand Client Software
thewireguys replied to Bob La Londe's topic in General Digital Discussion
What you are looking for is called PSIM and it is a software that will allow you to connect multiple manufactures VMS, NVRs, DVRS, IP cameras and other security devices into one interface. All of the PSIM software that I know of is very expensive and designed for large government or business projects. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physical_security_information_management -

Is IP camera technology slowly progressing?
thewireguys replied to bass1176's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Dahua can sell their cameras at a low cost because they don't have a US sales team, rep firms and most importantly NO MANUFACTURER SUPPORT. Do I wish all cameras where $99 sure but that is not going to happen. I have a feeling the people complaining about prices have very little experience with IP camera solutionsdon't understand how expensive it is to build a quality camera with a good image that works 24/7 in any lighting condition and have manufactures support. -

Need help finding outdoor PTZ with tracking
thewireguys replied to Bouci's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Acti uses box based motion detection which sucks. They do have a day/night setting but it still sucks when you use it in anything but a controlled environment. Axis uses the same box based motion detection by default but you can load other motion detection or analytic Apps on some of there cameras. Trees are bad and rain/snow/wind is even worse -
What ANPR/LPR software is out there?
thewireguys replied to RustyJL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes but a second lane is half that. Basically they are the same price for the first lane and as smith said the price drops in half after the first lane. Also no recurring fees with the Avigilon solution -
What ANPR/LPR software is out there?
thewireguys replied to RustyJL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have a full demo running right now but this is a higher end solution nothing that would interest anyone one here. Yes you can trigger rules and alarms based off the watch list. Email, Text, Pop-up alarms, messages and video, trigger PTZs to presets..... -
Need help finding outdoor PTZ with tracking
thewireguys replied to Bouci's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
There would likely be just one object to track at a time as this place is really in the backwoods, so that should be good. I'd love an Axis setup, as we have very good experiences of an Q6035-E PTZ when used as a high-end scenic landscape camera. Had no problems last winter when it got down to -30 C. However, I don't think I can afford two Axis PTZs and a motion trigger cam (or two, as I suspect I'd need one on each side of the house). I am limited to a max budget of around 4000 euros, maybe 5000. Not sure what other gadgets would need to go into the system as well (being fairly new at this). Keep in mind ANY movement will trigger the PTZ to move/track. Including trees, blowing leaves, shadows, cats, dogs, deer.........
