  1. I would recommend you stay away from auto tracking PTZ cameras unless you are in a controlled environmental where you have only ONE object to track. Also Axis can to the same thing Acti does but you can do it with most Axis cameras and a Axis PTZ camera. The major problem with have a camera or cameras trigger the PTZ to move to presets is you basically lose PTZ controls because the commands with over ride your manual controls.
  2. Yes it works quite well.... I currently have the the dongle for testing
  3. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_number_plate_recognition 30 FPS is not a requirement but you will need higher FPS the faster the cars are moving Black/white works best for 27/4 applications but there is software that works on color cameras and you need high contrast images for the OCR to work the best
  4. I know, but using advanced video analytics this can be changed and obtain an image closer to real one. The angle was like this because the camera was mounted on a car (yes, the image was obtained while in motion - both our car and the car in the image) Yes I am familiar with mobile LPR solutions. We have looked at a couple of solutions for local police departments.
  5. Bully.... Guess you never seen these before... https://www.hidglobal.com/products/controllers/edge
  6. Image is nice... My concern is with the angle that plate is towards the camera. Most systems need the plate to be square to the camera with the bottom of the plate parallel to the bottom of the FOV of the camera.
  7. You guys are NUTS for thinking your going to read the plate with that FOV....
  8. Where is the ALPR? That is simply a camera used to ID plates I would like to see the software used to data base the plates from that image.
  9. This is like the blind leading the blind.... no offence to RustyJL RustyJL I know of a LRP solution that runs on a Axis camera and records a SD card. PM me if you want more info.

    Avigilon vs Sony?

If you want to order a Avigilon camera you just need to contact a dealer.
  13. The bullets and new IR domes have Adaptive and Intelligent IR. Adaptive: Avigilon adjusts the IR LEDs to automatically to match the FOV that you have the lens set to. So if you have the camera at 9MM the IR will match the 9mm FOV. Intelligent: Avigilon adjusts IR LEDS intensity so when a person or a object gets close to the camera they will not be over exposed.
  14. Why are you having to reboot the router? What specifically is it not doing when you have to reboot it?

    Empire Security RMA? (SOLVED)

There is alot more if this story that Buellwinkle is not telling and he thinks he can strong arm people to get what he wants. Empire is a good reseller. Call them and they will take care of it.

    Empire Security RMA? (SOLVED)

Weird, I've never had any trouble with them at all, and I have purchased from them quite a bit too. Always been responsive and I have no complaints with the service I've received so far anyway. Here's hoping it stays that way! Buellwinkle just has a bone to pick with them. They are good re-seller to work with.

    Avigilon vs Dahua

OK get me a link to a official Dahua distributor in the US. And just so we are perfectly clear... end users and integrators do NOT get manufacture support... Correct?

    Avigilon vs Dahua

I don't do residential work anymore. Most of our projects now are police departments, town wide systems, hospitals, hotels, ski resorts, school districts, universities, manufacturing....... This thread is ridiculous BTW. So would you personally, at home, be able to afford putting up Avigilon cameras? If you had to pay for them, of course. What does have have to do with anything? Avigilon has NEVER be marketed towards residential customers and I don't see them ever do that. Also for the record I do have Avigilon at my home along with Mobotix, Sony, Panasonic, Acit, Axis, Dahua and Arecont. I have this because I am constantly testing products to make sure we are delivering the best solution for our customers. We have won many projects over other manufactures because of Avigilon's solution and their support.

    Avigilon vs Dahua

Only as a reference: Point of Sale - yes, "sniffer" included for serial & IP protocol - done at device level (DVR/NVR); LPR - yes & ANPR too with trainable engine; this is done at camera level; also traffic control and red light crossing; triggers: radar, loops or IR Barrier Alarm Points and rules? - yes, via device or CMS software; triggers: motion detection, alarm input, video lost, camera blanked Scheduled Backups - yes, via dedicated software for Windows Setup users and groups - yes, at device level; you can hide/give permission for every function it does, including live, backup, configuration, net live, etc "Adjust notifications to certain groups?" - if you mean "log" all it's done in device (like config, net login, motion, alarm, etc) - yes Use Active Directory to authenticate users? - no Of course, there are more, but this means someone needs to study and get specific info about the products. And how do you get manufacture support for this?

    Avigilon vs Dahua

Can you even purchase a Dahua camera in the US without someone else's name on them? And if you can how do you get manufactures support? Avigilon has 24/7 phone tech support with 3 year advanced replacement on there cameras plus their NVRs have ONSITE support with the rack mount NVRs having 4 hour onsite support. Let's see Dahua send a tech out to fix one of there NVRs hell let see if you can get a tech on the phone!! Dahua is a great product for small low cost residential customers and systems under 16 cameras Avigilon's solution is for medium to large systems 16 - 500 camera and 5.0 is going to expand that to much larger systems.
