Cameras Per Server, Config and Prices
thewireguys replied to connelly73's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Please talk to your local Avigilon rep for more information. The different versions of Aviglion CORE, STANDARD and ENTERPRISE allow for different camera counts. Just like Milestone does with there different versions. After that the amount of cameras your system can handle is dependent on bandwidth and system hardware. Milestone is going to require better hardware for the same camera count as Avigilon because Milestone uses server based motion detection where Avigilon does motion detection on the cameras. If your new to IP your best bet is get some cameras and test both VMS plateforms for yourself. -
and what happens when your distributor goes out of business or stops selling dahua products?

Multi Site IP Camera Solution - Advice
thewireguys replied to bazinlondon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You mean upload a file from your remote site to your viewing station? -
I didn't actually say that. What I said, regarding their support, was: The implication here is that Dahua requires going through their authorized dealers for everything, like Avigilon does, but you don't get the quality support you get with Avigilon. I can understand that trade-off - if I was supplying corporate sites, I'd seriously consider Avigilon for their support and integration, and Dahua wouldn't even come into the equation, due to their lack of quality in many areas. I hope the Avillagers will put away the pitchforks... No pitchforks are out. But just to clarify you don't need to contact your dealer for support if your a end user you can contact Avigilon directly. Anyway I am done here good luck upgrading firmware on your cameras via serial cables.

Multi Site IP Camera Solution - Advice
thewireguys replied to bazinlondon's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
For our customer with 87 locations and megapixel cameras at each site we built custom small servers with SSDs for the OS and a hardrive for storage at each site that fit into temperature controlled NEMA boxes. Everything is housed inside the NEMA boxes so all we have to do onsite is mount the box, run cat5 to the cameras and hook up power. Since we used Avigilon even though all systems are connected via cable connection searching is still very fast and there is no need to download video to review it. You simply switch to recorded mode in the client software and you see all motion events then scrub or search your recorded video. -
Still available

You can call as many dealers as you like and get as many quotes as you want. No one is stopping you from getting the best deal you can.

Excuse me?? Avigilon's pricing is confidential and available though authorized partners only. If you want pricing contact your local Avigilon dealer. My only reason for commenting on this was the fact that someone mentioned the Dahua is a cheap Avigilon. I have a Dahua camera for testing the image is not bad but the lack of support / manufacturer access is a non starter for us. I have customers that request a 4 hour "part in hand" support contacts. Manufacture support is a must have for this level of customer.

Avigilon bullet sample video
thewireguys replied to cglaeser's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have seen them 5MP 9-22mm bullet is nice for plates -
FYI this is nothing like Avigilon. End users get full 24/7 tech support from the manufacture if they need it.

The clip you posted is the 3MP bullet but remember the 1,2,3 MP bullet cameras are all WDR. The 5MP is not. -

There are lots of sample video from Avigilon cameras on youtube. I still have my bullet camera on my desk. I haven't had enough time to mess with it yet still playing with the ALPR plug in. Here is a great one from the PTZ camera... MVGuhmGVpb4 -

Mobotix vs Avigilon
thewireguys replied to lansa's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Outside of north american they use distribution so maybe that is what your talking about. I find it interesting though, there are three different groups that complain about Avigilon's go-to-market model. Distribution, competitors, and dealers that don't make the cut. Currently Avigilon can control the whole process and make sure the end users is getting a solution that works. Once you go distribution any Tom Dick and Hairy can sell the product and the final product suffers. Example: We just met with a customer that has a Pelco Endura system and they are not happy at all. Distribution is selling to the customer direct and the telco guy is installing the system. The people that are responsible for using the system find the system to be useless because it doesn't work properly. PTZ cameras spin out of control, switching from a single camera view to matrix view takes minutes or the client crashes, switching from live to recorded video takes minutes or some times the client crashes. Chances are the system is just not installed properly but the customer now has a bad taste in there mouth about Pelco because anyone can install the system. Anyway its gonna mean a lot of work for us. -
Mobotix vs Avigilon

Isn't this a thing of the past? Isn't Avigilon available through distribution now? That would be news to me....
