AXIS P-1214E outdoor covert IP camera

It's a cool device but I am disappointed with the image quality. I have only fired it up in side and I thought it had a very narrow depth of field. -

Recommend a POE switch for 5 camera set
thewireguys replied to 0cean23's topic in General Digital Discussion
Basically all you need to do is add up the total wattage of each camera and find a switch that will supply that much power with as many ports is required. I don't know the wattage for Dahua but say they are 7 watts per camera. So if you have 6 cameras you will need a switch that can support more then 42 watts on as many ports. FYI a max power switch will supply 15Watts on all ports on the switch. -
Network Video Recorders
thewireguys replied to t84a's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Do you really think that it matters for a restaurant to spend 10 minutes searching for a recording vs it being done in 10 seconds? I agree with what someone else said that they should have a live view monitor, but it did not sound like the OP had enough room for any additional hardware. The speed at which you can search and export video is extremely important and overlooked most of the time. Most of the time you don't know exactly what your looking for so looking for a simple event can take hours even with small 4 camera systems. -

Residential recommendation help - Avigilon sw + wireless cam
thewireguys replied to cliff369's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
FYI a i5 or i7 is way overkill for Avigilon. Dahua is supported with Onvif but Dahua is still running a older version of Onvif that does not support motion detection so the cameras will record 24/7 RTSP does not have motion detection so your cameras will record 24/7 lastly you are asking for trouble running cameras wirelessly and remember you need power so you might as well just run the cables. -
MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I better get my order in now, beat the rush. I'm see M15 at IFSEC last year. 5MP sensor sensitivity is better, but still has dynamic range problems. But, no implementations on B/W sensor. Instead of B/W sensor will be thermal sensor This not a joke. Mobotix cameras is not bad. But Mobotix is good "still", but not "movie" camera Mobotix has a great hardware but there software is not user friendly, they are way to slow releasing new products and support is not very responsive. -
Connect the VGA or HDMI to the local TV then take the BNC output, split and run two RG-59 cables to the remote TVs then use BNC to RCA into the TV. Cheap and works very well.

What did Exacq support say? I have the same camera and if I have some time I can test it with Exacq and Avigilon. -

The left image is Mobotix and it looks like if you want to read the plates his just has to up the exposure settings to 1/60 + -
Not sure what your budget is but Avigilon's VMS controls everything in Avigilon's cameras. I could not tell you the last time I logged into the web GUI of there cameras. Controlling all aspects of the cameras settings from the VMS is a HUGH time saver

NVR use question
thewireguys replied to Machineman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Check to make sure Q-sees NVR will connect with Axis cameras. As for the motion windows i can't stand them. Acti and Axis both use motion windows but it is impossible to configure motion windows to work reliably 24/7 under varying lighting conditions. Mobotix's motion windows work extremely well day and night. Avgilon's motion detection is fantastic. It works day/night without any tweaking. Only issue we have had is objects that are very far away but we can address that with ramp up recording. -
ExacqVision start question
thewireguys replied to 51cent's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
That camera is on the supported list and should work. Check the details page and make sure you are using the firmware they have tested. https://exacq.com/support/ipcams.php -
raspberry pi and vitamin d
thewireguys replied to Blake CCTV's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
"Vitamin D Video requires at minimum a 2.0 GHz processor, but this number alone doesn't necessarily specify how fast your computer runs programs. More important is the number of "cores" on your computer." -

I am more jealous of lack of VMSs that there cameras work with and Dahua's fantasic support Dahua's have descent quality but they are useless without integration and manufacture support. -

Any issues with Athlon based computers for NVR use?
thewireguys replied to bigglebowski's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have never been happy with the image quality from Acti cameras always some annoying issue from the cameras losing IP settings, extremely bad motion blur at night, and only 3 motion windows.
