  1. Exacq and Avigilon are extremely light on the CPU you can even use ATOM based machines. You can have a look at Exacq supported camera list which is 1000 cameras here. https://exacq.com/support/ipcams.php Avigilon's supported camera list which is over 800 is here http://avigilon.com/#/support-and-downloads/for-software/supported-cameras-and-encoders/ Exacq can even be installed on Axis and IQI cameras and record to SD cards BUT keep in mind searching video is slow. Both Exacq and Avigilon support camera based motion detection which works very well and can save you a lot of money with hardware over using software that is server based motion. What are your goals with this system? What cameras are you thinking about using?
  2. I posted a image from my cell phones camera because that was the quickest way to get an image at the time. I didn't have my laptop or a jump drive. You like using Photoshop FYI every Axis camera I have used since 2007 I have been able to export a JPEG from the web interface even the 233d PTZ (way older then the Q6035-E) camera that I have can export in JPEG. Hmmmmm
  3. hmmm Sounds like your spending a little to much time with Mickey Mouse.... I just fired up one of my Axis cameras logged into the web interface and saved a snap shot as a jpeg. FYI configuring the cameras from the web interface is a over rated and a waste of time.

MGA fired all US based employees today!

    Got a link?
  5. 180 mode: JfFMoUBwTX0 Double Panorama: lHdYvAMH4hM
  6. Max resolution is 1080P there is no 360 view
  7. Acti-3911 Cropped a little on the bottom.
  8. I like the button idea You could also add a fail safe where the system would default to auto and add the ability to schedule it on/off.
  9. OK so what happens when the switch gets shootout and malfunctions? The user will be unable to operate the camera because his controls will be stepped on.
  10. I used the Acti for about 2 weeks and tested it right next to the Mobotix Q24. Yes it was B/W but the image was bad at night. I had it mounted outside along with Mobotix and Mobotix image was way better and just because the camera is day/night doesn't mean it is better in low light. FYI Axis can trigger the PTZ cameras too but this is a feature that has very little real world use especially if used outdoors.
  11. Axis can also do this. Basically to setup an event in a fixed camera and when triggered send a HTTP command to another Axis camera. If you know the HTTP command you might even be able to trigger a Axis camera from a Acti camera. My big issue with this if your using motion windows is what happens if you want to override the camera when an event is happening. Basically you can't and as your controlling the camera the HTTP commands will over ride your PTZ controls which at best gets extremely annoying. So in the real would there are very limited uses.
  12. There is no need to dewarp the image when it mounted on the wall. Also I would recommend keeping the image dewarped so you are recording the full image. If you switch the camera to 180 panorama or quad view you are only recording what you are seeing with most systems so you will have dead spots. Mobotix can recording the full fisheye image and the client software can dewarp the recorded image that way you are recording everything not just what you are looking at. With the ACTI camera it was not able to spit out the full fisheye image only dewarped views which I don't like because you are missing alot of the FOV. So whatever the view you had set on the camera is what the VMS recorded. And again ACTI says it's a 4MP camera but it only spits out 1080P. Also image quality from Axis was MUCH better then ACTi and the Axis version is cheaper.
  13. In the last month I have been testing the Acti, Mobotix and Axis 360 cameras. I did not like the image quality of the Acti camera and it is only a 1080P images FYI. Mobotix Q24 has been installed on the front of my house for the last couple of years and I have been happy with the image it delivered. Axis is higher resolution and lower bandwidth and 12 FPS so right now it is my new favorite.
  14. Sounds like bad integration between Synology and Axis
  15. What is your upload speed? Say those cameras are pushing 4Mbps each and you have 2 cameras. You would need a 8Mbps upload to get the full frame rates.
  16. Wow, they are SUPER TINY Are the Edimax ip camera's as high quality as the Edimax BR-6258n? It is the Edimax IC-7110W Wireless 11n Pan/Tilt Internet IP Camera http://www.edimax.com/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=415&pl1_id=8&pl2_id=92 that I am particularly interested in. [if ya can't pick it in two minutes or less, drill it] That router is nice and small but I bet the wireless range and throughput is not very good.
  17. I would say most VMS platforms are like this. NVRs typically are limited by hardware
  18. Avigilon does NOT license to the MAC address of the cameras like Milestone and others do. They license for the number of devices just like Exacq does BUT unlike Exacq they do not have ANY recurring yearly fees. It is very simple. If you want connect 4 cameras you need 4 cameras licenses. If you want to add 4 more cameras you simply add 4 more licenses to the system for a total of 8 devices. A device is a camera or encoder. Software that licenses to the MAC address of the device you MUST contact the VMS manufacture every time you want to change cameras. Avigilon does NOT do this.

    Avigilon vs Mirasys

I know lots about Avigilon and never heard of Mirasys. My recommendation would be to setup a head to head demo of both products and see which one fits your needs better.
  20. So I have to run windows on virtualization software? That's kind of a non-starter for me, I want a native app/web-viewer for my Mac. Honestly the lack of a working Mac viewer is one of the reasons that I have looked away from Synology.... their Mac viewer has been very hit or miss due to their reliance on Java, and currently they simply don't work on the Mac at all due to their reliance on Java-32. Again most business run windows even when they are using a Mac. Also with Parallels you get to add the Avigilon icon to your desk and it will launch just like any other Mac program. So no extra steps to launch Avigilon on a Mac or PC.
  21. Our customers that have Macs use Parallels without issues.

    Any advice will be welcomed.

Trailerguy.... How much are you selling the trailers for? I think trailers are awesome and we have tried to sell them to some customers but they where always shot down because of price.
  23. All those price lists are so outdated and incorrect. If you budget is $200 then Avigilon is not going to be a good fit. I have yet to have a pricing issue with Avigilon vs Exacq but if Exacq fit your needs then I am happy for you. Keep in mind I am mostly doing larger 10+ camera projects

    Dahua cameras now at Costco

Doesn't Q-See have a CRM software where you can log into multiple NVRs at the same time?
