12 Building 24 camera system design

I was thinking the same thing about mounting them on poles. And yes I can tap into the power. I have a degree in NSA so networking isnt a problem. But I would always recommend against wifi because the signal can go out at the most important moment. Its just not reliable enough. Then you not designing your system right. I have many customers on PTP or PTMP links streaming multiple megapixel cameras. You need to understand RF and the limitations of wireless. Is wireless bulletproof no but can it be extremely reliable if designed correctly with the right gear yes.

12 Building 24 camera system design

I would skip the 2 cameras per building setup. Looks like there is only to entrances/exits correct? I would put to LPR cameras to ID plates are cars are leaving. Then I would get parking lot coverage. It looks like to could do this without having to get a network to every building and would help reduce your cost a lot. Do they have light poles? Can you tap power off of them? A wireless network would diffidently work but you have to know what your doing and it will eat up a lot budget if you have to build one for every building.

12 Building 24 camera system design

What are the plans with this system? What does the customer want the system to do for them? Are these cameras to cover outside parking areas or inside areas? What is the budget?
  4. Here is a an example of a hardened router. You don't need a temp controlled box for these. Put it to you this way if you want something reliable that your not going have to replace every couple of months you are going to have to spend some money to do it right. http://www.moxa.com/product/EDR-G903.htm
  5. Now your really trying to spend his money
  6. They are designed to operate in extreme temperatures -40 to 75C. No they don't use fans because they are moving parts and the will fail at some point and then your unit will fail. You will spend about $1500 to $2000 for a hardened switch, router and power supply.
  7. Use Hardend Routers/Switches but they are 5 times the price of cheap Linksys gear.
  8. Not true Aviglion also supports this see pic below www.avigilon.com It would likely have to be a dome camera with 3 axis adjustments that can physically rotate the Here is example Avigilon cam and software corridor view was resize for forum can not be done with IP servers if I remember correct
  9. I have used this many times for hallway shots. It works very well.

    Mobotix q24

Not if you want any usable video. I have a Q24 and a 150Watt Flood light and night time is useless
  11. What exactly am I missing out on? I don't sell American Dynamics and I have demo'd some Pelco gear and was not impressed. Now your telling me distributors will sell Pelco direct to end users so how or why would I want to compete with that?

    VideoIQ Encoder FORSALE

I have a demo unit I needs a new home. This is a single channel VideoIQ encoder with 160GB of onboard storage and video analytics that can track humans, cars and boats. You can use this unit with analog, thermal and PTZ cameras. It can run as a standalone unit and/or integrate it with your current VMS solution. You could also integrate it with your DVR. Here is some video from the unit showing how the analytics work. bsfZEAogM-Q Cut sheet for the unit :http://www.videoiq.com/resources/VIQ_encoder1_20.pdf New unit is $1149 Forsale for $450 Please contact me with any questions.
  14. Beat me to it... not a good idea! Also, anyone call call the local Graybar / Anixter / ADI and get better than dealer pricing... While Pelco doesn't sell direct, almost any of these guys will. And now you just added another reason I will not sell Pelco. Distributors selling direct and your trying to promote it
  15. This isn't even kind of true. Over the past 3 years Pelco has seen a price reduction of up to 70% on some of its equipment. It is priced 5% lower than the 3 "Top Selling" IP cameras on the market. Problem is people never want to compare apples to apples with Pelco, its always someones entry level $500 DVR vs Endura. Digital Sentry = Free 8 cameras + Free with current promotion. Which software vendor is also free? Analog Line - Starts off at $80 dealer, but no one pays dealer, at minimum you should be 10-15% off of dealer. IP Line, Standard Deff - $400, Megapixil - $540, at dealer once again. 100 camera system, 64 Analog, 33 IP 1.3MP, 18TB, Unlimited Clients, NO recurring fee = About 31K DEALER. And if you are the partner first program not only do you get your standard discount but you can register the project for another 4% off. Now I cant argue that it is the cheapest brand, but as far it is one of the most supportive, easiest technical support, fastest shipping, easiest returns, and some really great promotions that make the equipment even less expensive. If you havent looked at Pelco in a while, I suggest you check it out. I have and I wasn't impressed with the image quality. And why are you talking about dealer pricing on a public forum?
  16. Pelco is not the product it used to be and you can definitely get better products and cheaper price.
  17. Buel your not telling the whole story here bud..... You ONLY don't need a NVR when you use their terrible software. If you use third party software then you need a NVR and at $1878 unit that is not cheap. Again I ask how many Mobotix cameras have you installed in a night club?
  18. Buel how many mobotix cameras have you installed in a night club? Mobotix has great cameras but the most un-user friendly software on the market. There cameras are also some of the most expensive cameras on the market so if you use them with 3rd party VMS your going to have a very expensive system.
  19. If you need pricing and design assistance please pm me.
  20. Avigilon can also do hybrid setups with their encoders. They have a lowest cost highest image quality encoders on the market.
  21. Mike, thanks for the post but that is a simple shot any camera can handle... At least post a image of something moving and/or low light and something moving.
  22. I just completed a 28 camera MP install for a large club/event center. We did the full project with Avigilon and it turned out very well. I would strongly recommend looking at different cameras. Those DH110 and EP550 are not going to do well without lots of light. Also Milestone is a bug resource hog so be prepared to purchase high end server and client machines to handle that amount of cameras. You can do a lot better with different software.
  23. Where are you located at? Are you the end user or installer? Why do you like Milestone? There are much better cheaper options without the recurring software fees!
