CNB VCM-24VF installation waterproofing question
thewireguys replied to Kawboy12R's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Those holes are designed for 3/4inch conduit. Run some conduit from where you bring the wire out of your house and run it into one of those holes. -

How to 'weed' out false motion alerts
thewireguys replied to NotSoSimple's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Use video analytic or motion detectors. Motion detection on non-analytic based DVR/NVRs record ALL motion not just the motion you want -

Migrating from analog CCTV to newer technology

I would get a demo of Mobotix before you go down that road. While the image and build quality is top notch their VMS is not very user friendly to use. -

Dahua and latest ONVIF
thewireguys replied to badgcoupe's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Onvif 2.2 supports motion detection and Avigilon will support cameras that conform. That being said nothing is guarantee with Onvif at this point. -

Full power multiport Injectors are more expensive most full power POE switches. -
VIDEO Axis HDTV PTZ , Q1910 Thermal and P1346
thewireguys replied to thewireguys's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yea links are dead and Larry doesn't want anyone editing or deleting post older then 10 days. Apparently he now owns our information which I don't think is very cool. So I can't do anything about it. -

MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Don't know what to tell you... it does take time focus these correctly but when you do you can see the results. The only times I have had issues is when I tried low quality lenses.... FYI I am a big fan of the remote zoom/focus h.264 camera but h.264 can't match the image detail JPEG2000 can deliver. -

MegaPixel Cameras - Images and Demos
thewireguys replied to rory's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I'm seeing some softness in parts of the image, but it isn't consistent. The door above the handle (our left, mid screen) looks OK, but the lower part of the hand rail is a bit soft. I don't think it is as bad as some of the comments indicate. The bottom of the porch light looks crisp. I suspect that plant by the railing is just fuzzy, as is the edge of the welcome mat. Viewers - right click to turn off scaling, turn on full screen. The Fedex truck also looks ok. Buster, I think those pics are amazing for a sub $200 camera like that one you're exampling. I think as a professional that looks at HD/Megapixel images all day every day those images are sub par. If someones face was that bush and you needed to ID that person (which you should be able to) you would be out of luck and WASTED $200. -

Cam Recommendation: Changable Lenses, 1280x1024 minimum?
thewireguys replied to PeteCress's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Keep in mind if your using HD cameras with Exacq and you want to search video you might want to grab a book. It takes forever to search video. -
9 to 12 2MP IP cameras and I may need a better video card...
thewireguys replied to stroonzo's topic in Computers/Networking
We just started a 11 camera Avigilon MP system (four 180s, six 5MP, one 3MP) and I am using a Atom based client machine hookup up to a 32inch LED monitor for a spot monitor. I have also build sold and tested many Atom based NVRs that can handle 10-15 cameras no problem. If you need a solution with less CPU requirements switch VMS/cameras. -
What the manufacture and model of that PTZ camera?
-
I have installed maybe 20 or so Acti cameras and I have no desire to sell or install them anymore. They have been reliable but quirky to setup and configure. I have also had 2 of them default to factory settings on their own and as you can see the night time performance isn't the best. Also not a big fan of the look and design of some of the cameras.

As anyone installed either of this systems? I would like to hear some feed back from those who did. http://www.infinias.com/main/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx http://www.hidglobal.com/iam/networkedAccess.php
