I would need to know more about your project to make a recommendation. Is this a PTP, PTMP, or MESH network? -
any reviews on firetide
thewireguys replied to Tom12345's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have not used Firetide but I have talked to a couple of customers that are not a fan. From that I know they spend lots on marketing and not so much on support but like I said I have not used it. What is the size of this project you looking at? Do you need mesh networking? Have you deployed wireless networks? -

What are you trying to do with Firetide? Are you looking to partner with Firetide or do you have a project in mind? -

AgentVI Analytic Software
thewireguys replied to Megapixelman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I have never used AgentVI but I have used other camera based analytics. What are you trying to do with them? Can you get a demo and test for yourself? -
We are working with a local ISP to secure their substations. Minimum connection speed between locations is 1GB and most are 10GB. I am going to build a house within 300ft of one of the locations and run a cat cable. I would be plenty happy with a 100Mb connection

Yeah I need to see this to believe it...

"upload speeds around 30mbps" You sure you have 30mbps for UPLOAD? It sounds right for download speed but that is very high for upload. Most residential upload speeds are max 5mbps. As for the switch you don't need a GB switch. I would recommend a 8 port POE switch with 2 port GB uploads.

Axis encoders with one IP address will work with one license of Exacq. Avigilons encoder would work with ONVIF but I don't if it WILL work and I don't know how many licenses it needs.

Networking through mobile hotspot - Sprint????
thewireguys replied to need2shave's topic in Computers/Networking
All of our Sprint cards are Static IPs with public IPs.... I work directly with Sprints field engineers when we deploy 3g/4g solutions. Only issue we have with Sprint's static IPs is they block port 80 which is a easy fix. -
What where your thoughts on the Mobotix covert camera?

Networking through mobile hotspot - Sprint????
thewireguys replied to need2shave's topic in Computers/Networking
DDNS is just one more thing that can go wrong and when your doing cellular networks their is already enough to go wrong. -
Networking through mobile hotspot - Sprint????
thewireguys replied to need2shave's topic in Computers/Networking
I recommend static over DDNS for reliability issues. All of our Sprint systems are static and they are also all Government accounts. FYI 4G accounts are unlimited -

Avigilon recording to NAS possible?
thewireguys replied to dewalty's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
You CAN NOT record directly to a NAS you will need a NAS that supports iSCSi to record directly to the unit. You CAN back up to a NAS as you already have seen. -

exacq self built NVR and alarm inputs
thewireguys replied to 3RDIGLBL's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Here is the Axis part you are talking about. I haven't needed to use it because we have been using the triggers on the cameras or encoders but I was told it works. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_p8221/index.htm As for Exacq we just switched another customer over to Avigilon from Exacq because of camera connection issues "Stream Socket Timeout" with Arecont. We have the Arecont camera with some Acti cameras on a PTMP wireless network and the Arecont constantly dropped out. I upgraded to the latest firmware on all the cameras and upgraded Exacq, changed the "reconnecting time" and the same problem. I disabled Exacq and installed Avigilon and the issue went away. No more camera disconnect issues. I used to be a big fan of Exacq but after all of the issues we have had with cameras connecting and disconnecting plus just how crude and slow the search is we have moved on.
