1. using the latest chrome: Guess your computer only accepts CIF images
2. Top image is a the full image and the others are crops of the first.
3. NO they are not. Most DVRs/NVRs/IP cameras use pixel based motion detection so ANY changes in the video are seen as motion. So you will have many many false positives. I would not recommend using pixel based motion detection for what you are trying to do. But you could use your motion detectors on the trigger inputs to trigger your DVR to record and this will be much more reliable.
4. opinion. If not why would they be having us quote new systems for them?
5. exactly, thats my point. Again, why would you pay thousands on a PC based DVR when all it is is a $500 PC with a $1000+ DVR card on it in which the whole setup costs $3-5000 in its entirety, when a standalone costs much less and if you wanted to get IP cameras later, just get a $500 PC and run it on that. My point is WHY waste your money on a DVR that can't be upgraded? And why spend $3000-5000 on a PC based solution when it can be done cheaper and better with an upgrade path WITHOUT wasting any money.
6. Sean it's 2011 who is selling windows 98? I have PC based system in the field that are over 5 years old that I could easily replace the VMS software on without throwing away anything. You could even resell the old VMS licenses if you want to so your not losing any money. For smaller setups a $500-600 PC will run the solution just fine. I guess the difference for me is I am selling solutions not DVRs and cameras. If you happy selling $300 DVRs than have at it. The customers we are working need a better solution and that is what we give them.
7. Your math is WAY off Avigilon VMS + encoders is less then half of your number..... oh and it will run just fine on your outdated PC
8. We always can get Megapixel/HD cameras to see better in low light but you will NEVER get more then D1 out of a analog camera
9. Can you program the 1080P camera to see more in low light?? Yes I can
10. Sean so your recommendation is for the customer to have to operate two systems? One for analog and the other for megapixel? Does anyone ever think about system usability and how much time the customer has to spend to search and export video? That is the biggest complaint from from our new customers about their old systems.
11. So you agree that the best thing to do if a guy had a 16 channel geovision card for years running analog cameras, and he decides to get 4 avigilon 5 megapixel cameras, that he should simply update the Geovision software to support those 4 Avigilon cameras instead of using Avigilons IP software on the same computer? Does Geo even support Avigilon cameras? Maybe the h.264 cameras... but not the JPEG2000 cameras.. I don't think that is what he is asking though.

microtik

Think you mean Mikrotik Have a look here: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:TOC
13. Can you program it to give me 1080P video
14. actually the analog camera has a firmware too, since it is actually digital, so it can be updated. I would love for you to show us how to upgrade the firmware in your $40 KT&C bullet cameras
15. Ill give you 5 minutes with a Avigilon encoder system and you would never use a DVR again.
16. Louie what is your total bandwidth coming into the your NVR?
17. thewireguys

Open Doors wirelessly

If you have a trigger input on your panel you could use one of these..... You have many options., http://www.linearcorp.com/radio_control.php
18. This info should be in the manuals that come with the PTZ cameras you installed.

Multi-locale cloud-hosted NVR viable?

Lots of cameras can send a file on motion. But how many do you know can stream video to a VMS only when motion is detected.

Multi-locale cloud-hosted NVR viable?

Seedigital: How many systems do you know if that can "stream on motion"

Multi-locale cloud-hosted NVR viable?

if they insist on a hosted setup something like this might be your best fit. Keep in mind you will still need the upload bandwidth. http://www.secure-i.com/

Multi-locale cloud-hosted NVR viable?

Your upload speed will be your problem if you want off site storage. 4Mbps is 4Mbps meaning if you have 100GB of video stored on the local NVR per day you will have to up load 100GB of video which will take 150 hours over a 1.5M T1.
