Tell us how you really feel Rory. Let it all out

Raytem 200 Platinum and a 2MP VideoIQ camera. RayMax Off Raymax On (this was before we went back and adjusted it when it was dark. After we adjusted it the light is much more even. I will post the image when I find it) That building is 300ft away and the FOV is about 500ft.

what is a good NVR software
thewireguys replied to lechols155's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Yes all IP cameras compress video at the camera. The NVR stores the data from the cameras on disk. Yes Avigilon can support unlimited cameras including 29 MP cameras. -

Cisco has the only router that I know of that has POE outputs -
Onvif and Aver
thewireguys replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Just because Onvif works with one camera doesn't mean it will work with others. Test every camera you plan on using -
Know that the Axis 4 port encoders only require once license except the Q7404. Yes I would recommend 20 encoders but I would not use Exacq or Axis. Encoders give you more flexibility for system design.
-
Not true. 1 licence per 4 cameras when use using MOST encoders.
-
If your going to add many HD cameras I would recommend the A Servers. The EL versions could easily get over loaded if you add to many Megapixel cameras
-
Encoders are cheap and work very well

what is a good NVR software
thewireguys replied to lechols155's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I don't quite get your point, but that might be due to the fact that English isn't my native language. My experiances is that ONVIF is still a work in progress. It's a good idea but it doesn't quite work completely yet. I would be really nice when it's fully operational though. Don't get me wrong though, Bosch screws up big time with their IP/Software department with little support with other brands. They're one of the frontman of ONVIF but their own VMS system (BVMS) doesn't even support it. The thing I just wanted to point out, that I don't understand the popularity of a VMS software which only has such a small list of supported brands. I personally would rather choose a VMS software which doesn't have direct ties to a specific hardware brand. Then again, I recon it doesn't really matter much for installers who only build small installations, or even big installations where only 1 or 2 brands are used. What do you consider a "big installation" I would much rather use 1 or 2 brands of cameras. Its a lot easier to support. -
None. I would keep it separate. So you would sell the the customer 2 solutions? WHY?
-
Yes. And what would that be?
-
OK, so which brand(s) are better? And how much do they cost? Bang for the buck is anything better than Raymax? Raytec makes great IR Illuminators and it is what we recommend when we need to add light to situation. Iluminar also makes nice stuff but they are at the same price point as Raytec
-
Raytec is coming out with some new models that look very impressive. They have a remote control so you can adjust them with both feet on the ground
-
And it is $10,000
-
So Rory if a customer wanted a hybrid megapixel solution what would you recommend?

Chances are they support Bosch with ONVIF. -

Since we are already off topic. Does anyone know of any cameras that support VLAN tagging?
-
I can call around but most of my suppliers don't stock the covert models

The procedure goes something like this: 1) Look at the label on the camera, obtain camera's MAC address. 2) Add MAC address to the DHCP config file, and assign it a known IP address. 3) Boot the camera. 4) Launch web browser, point it to IP address determined in Step 2. It's really not so hard if you know what you're doing. ?? why not just load everything into the DHCP reservation table and skip step 4? Also this is still a huge waste of time.

Exacq EL Mini Issues
thewireguys replied to Megapixelman's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Gotta love H.264 Switch the to MJPEG and see what happens.... I think that unit is designed more as a server not a client/server. How does the video look from a client running on a different machine? -
To each his own. If you don't mind cluttering up your laptop with software from each and every camera manufacturer you deal with, more power to ya. No need to install any extra software
-
Avigilon doesn't even have a web browser. You won't setup Axis without software. Avigilon camera does have web GUI but we don't have to use at all as u know all can be done by software from camera discovery to setup Not all of them do.
-
I can't remember the last time I setup a camera from the web interface. Nor do I ever wanna do it that way again.
