Recommendation needed for camera for ski race course.

Interesting, I just started our second Ski Resort install and I can say that installing cameras on mountains that create their own weather is a lot of fun and a huge challenge. We current have cameras installed at the tops and bottoms of the lift chairs directly in the line of fire of the snow guns. All the cameras are currently IP HD cameras running a the fiber network that runs up and down the mountain. So now on to your issue. You want to see if the course clear before send the next racer down. You will need a higher resolution camera to see people all the way down the track or you will need a PTZ camera that you can control and zoom down in down the track to get a clear view. Now nether of these solutions are sub 100 and I don't know any sub 100 solution that will give you the resolution you need and survive in these conditions. The only camera I know that will operate in this conditions with out a heater/blower is Mobotix. Most all cameras will need a housing and heater/blower to keep the snow/ice off the the camera and a battery will drain extremely fast with this much draw. If you plan on mounting the camera on the lift tower you should have no problem getting power from either the top or bottom lift house. I would recommend you have a conversation with lift maintenance and/or the mountain electrician to see where they can get power for you. If you have any other questions please PM me.

    Q about IP cam bandwidth

Ok so it will work if you only wanna view one camera at a time and you do not need to view recorded video. What fun is that?

    Q about IP cam bandwidth

That depends on the camera. Those that support dual- or multiple-streams will allow you to do this. You also need a VMS that can support dual streaming for this to work. That camera is only half of the solution.
  7. No way to ask for FREE help What is your budget? I have been happen with Fujinon lenses. You would need a 1/2" version.

    Looking for Quality camera.

How big is the area you are trying to view? To get ID quality video you might have to reduce the FOV add more cameras to get the resolution you are looking for.

Advantage and Disadvantage or PoE in a CCTV system?

I have uses thousands of those connectors and the only time I have issues is with when the blade in crimping tool gets dull. What standard are they using?

No thanks, I dont touch overpriced crap designed for dummies. For someone that never used this stuff you sure to think you know a lot about it. BTW the Avigilon encoder is the most cost effective 4 channel (30FPS D1 all channels) on the market by a long shot. Speaking of $40 bullet cameras mine comes today so I can do a real megapixel VS analog comparison. Rory I think you appreciate this the most .

Only disadvantage that I have seen is when we are mounting camera on poles or mobile/portable/battery applications.

Survtech is correct cameras at the ends with 5-50MM work much better then cameras in the middle. We just finished up a takeover at a hotel and the other company installed the cameras in the middle of the hallways. We adjusted the FOV and zoomed down the hallways with the results being much better with greater detail farther down the hallways.

    IP Camera Prices

Any particular reason you want to use Megapixel cameras over analog? I am not recommending I am just asking why you wanted IP. For your price range your not gonna find anything unless you find something used. Also keep in mind you will need software and a computer to record the video. HD/Megapixel has advantages and disadvantages over analog. Major advantage is image quality you get much high resolution over analog. Disadvantage is low light sensitivity but you can always add light to make up for this. With analog you can NEVER get better resolution.

    Install Photo's

  22. Yes I can. The info you have is incorrect. Avigilon like Exacq does not have server based motion detection so all the cameras they support have on on-board motion. I current have Mobotix (Exacq doesn't support) and Sony on my demo system and I have used Axis, Acti, Arecont, Sanyo and VideoIQ with Avigilon ACC.
  23. You don't know much about Avigilon do you? Avigilon supports over 400 cameras from all major IP manufactures plus Onvif. Avigilon is zero recurring fees unlike Exacq. Avigilon has none of the camera connection issues that Exacq has. How long does it take you to search 30 days worth of megapixel camera video on Exacq? hell how long does it take you to search 1 day worth of video on Exacq If your comfortable with Exacq and Acti and your customers are happy that's all that matters.
