Networking through mobile hotspot - Sprint????
thewireguys replied to need2shave's topic in Computers/Networking
I work very closely with Sprint. Is this a Government customer? Do you have a static IP address? -
"Save/Exit" Then you can click on the "Video System" RUN
-
This is false. Looks like you only went to the IP setup and not into the NVR/camera setup. Always setup Arecont cameras form the AV100 software. Nope!! After the cameras install the manual says to hit the "Live Video" button. It's greyed out, no can do. This is on the current version and the one before it that came on the disc. I am sorry but you are doing something wrong.

When you install 5-10 cameras yea no problem but 30, 50 200+ yea it sucks to log into each camera. It saves so much time to configure all of your cameras from one interface.
-
Not saying that it is perfect but its a lot better then remembering all the IP address of your cameras and logging into each one of them.

Do not use the web interface to setup Arecont cameras!!!! Use the AV100 software that is on the disc. You can then fully setup the cameras.

IP Outdoor dome camera with poe. limited budget
thewireguys replied to north_'s topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
$1500 budget for 4 MP cameras and a NVR is not gonna happen. You also need low light cameras and it can be done with MP cameras but you will need to add light which will add even more to cost of the system. -
Ubiquiti AirVision Cameras
thewireguys replied to SEANHAWG's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Definitely interesting but some things you should know. 1) fixed focal lenses only 2) color only.... no IR or cut filter 3) cameras are not 802.1af POE so they will not work with standard POE switches without their adapter cable. 4) No ONVIF so they only work with their VMS -
Good point, although that really just reinforces what I said: simply receiving the stream and writing it to disk is not processor-intensive... it's all that other stuff that is, particularly the decoding that's required for everything else to happen (analytics, motion detection, transcoding, etc.) Agreed. Both Exacq and Avigilon use camera based motion detection so that's how the cpu usage is low. Lets move all the Avigilon chat here viewtopic.php?f=20&t=27688

Holy Geovision High Definition Inquisition!
thewireguys replied to LittleScoobyMaster's topic in Geovision
Do you mean bandwidth of these cameras? I have used cameras and seen 200K up to 80Mps per camera Well that system I was talking about has 200 IP streams which are from encoders, 720P/1080P and 5 Megapixel cameras. The H.264 cameras we use have a secondary stream but the 5 Megapixel cameras do not (but they don't need to have one anyway). Some solutions have a secondary stream (Most enterprise solutions) but most do not. Most Megapixel cameras can do multiple streams but most VMS software don't take advantage of them. So unless you plan on getting enterprise level software you will not have a second stream. What cameras did you order and what VMS are you planing on using? -

We need to see the full resolution from the camera not a screen shot of your desk top. Export a JPG image from milestone and post it please -
It's called a ground loop and another reason I like using IP http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ground_loop_(electricity)

Holy Geovision High Definition Inquisition!
thewireguys replied to LittleScoobyMaster's topic in Geovision
I think your a little confused. I have customers with 200 cameras on a network with about 50 of them Megapixel and bandwidth is about 350Mbps which is not a problem for a gigabit network. If your cameras stream at 5Mbps you could have well over 100 cameras on your network without any issues and there are ways to add even more capacity to a 1Gb network if you team connections. Also 10Gb networks are here and the price is dropping everyday. My point is if you know how to design a network bandwidth isn't a problem. As for your Apple TV that comes down to your wireless network and there is a lot more to go wrong with them. If you have a G router you only have 25Mbps of usable bandwidth that you share with your other devices. There are better wireless APs that can do 300Mps using 2.4/5Mhz and can handle multiple HD streams if designed properly. -

cheapish IP capable DVR to support Acti, Axis, Mobotix
thewireguys replied to boma23's topic in Digital Video Recorders
A dedicated computer will work with VMS software. Exacq will not work because of the Mobotix cameras and the web client isn't full featured. Milestone has free software that will work but you need a descent computer to run it and I don't think the free software has a web client. Plus it only stores video for 5 days I haven't used NUUO VMS only the MINI's Either way to get everything you want your gonna spend about $1000 for the computer and VMS -
cheapish IP capable DVR to support Acti, Axis, Mobotix
thewireguys replied to boma23's topic in Digital Video Recorders
You need a NVR or Hybrid DVR to record IP cameras. A normal DVR like the top link you posted will not work with IP cameras. Something like this: http://www.nuuo.com/product.php?id=13 -
This happened about 10 miles from my office. They all have masks on so you can't identify anyone and the outside camera doesn't have enough resolution to read the plate. I would like to see what technology everyone would use to prevent this from happening again and/or catch the perps. Upgrading the outside camera would get the plate but their is alot of other technology we could use.just looking to brain storm here. link to the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch%3Fv=kTXD0zZ9-FY
