Bullet cams vs Dome Cameras for outdoor use?

15'? Sure, outdoors the lens is easy to spot with the sun reflecting off it, indoors many domes use inserts and that right there tells you which side the lens is. 50', not as easy. But wouldn't you be looking right at the camera?

Bullet cams vs Dome Cameras for outdoor use?

You can see the lens unless it is dark tint and then it is useless at night.[/img] From 15 feet away you can see where the lens is pointed? You have some good eyes

Questions for you PRO CCTV Intallers..?? Pay? Misc? Q n A?

We charge a hourly rate plus materials. The fixed pricing per camera is fine for small 4-8 camera jobs but when you have larger projects you have no idea what your getting into till you start running wire. A single camera might take all day to install on large projects. Even smaller projects can have issues so I think is just fair to charge per hour plus materials.

Bullet cams vs Dome Cameras for outdoor use?

Most importantly with dome cameras you can disguise the cameras FOV where box/bullet cameras it is obvious where the camera is pointing.
  6. do you know the IP address for the NVR and IP camera?
  7. Chad thanks for the info but but explain to me why when I switch VMS software the on the same server with the same network and cameras the VMS connects instantly?
  8. The lack of budget, and high expectations make this sound like a recipe for disaster. I would refer this job to my most-hated competitor. " title="Applause" />
  9. DVRs that can recored analog and IP cameras are call hybrids.
  10. Have a look here.... viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11322 Well low light is not as good as analog but getting better and better. Cost if your comparing IP Megapixel to 50$ bullet cameras. Systems are more complex and you need IT skills.
  11. System design flexibly, scalability and image quality/resolution are the main reasons I am seeing. I find that people just are not happy with there current analog systems and they want a better image qualty.
  12. Even if your pulling RG-59 you should be terminating the wire after it's installed. Using pre-termed wire is just asking for trouble. But it agree with Soundy. All I stock for wire anymore is Cat5 and Cat6 plus some 16/2 for powering some housings. We also have been using MuxLab baluns so all we do is term with a RJ-45 and Cert the run then plug in the Balun. Makes for a much faster/cleaner install with less tools and connectors to stock and carry around. But keep in mind 95% of our installs are IP and the 5% is mostly moving analog cameras to new locations.

Check to see if you need a license to sell and install CCTV in your state.
  15. Make sure your check the laws in your state before you do any audio.
  16. Yup if you use 3rd party cameras and VMS you need a web browser (most of the time IE) to configure the IP cameras. Also like Soundy said you can have the VMS boot in full screen mode so you could not see windows. Exacq's hybrid are an example of this. Both with the Windows and Linux versions.
  17. Yes the IR unit that you are using is a rebranded Iluminar unit see here> http://www.iluminarinc.com/ Also not sure a 3MP camera will give you the results you are looking for you might night want to go to 5MP.

    a little help

I would use the 5MP Avigilon Dome camera plus 2 Avigilon encoders and their standard VMS.
  19. So what cameras have you used and that model Raytec did use? Also what is the distance to target and FOV?
  20. Depending on features needed your looking at between $100 to $400 PER camera for VMS. Also most VMS software can't write directly to NAS like the MxCC. You will need to make sure your network can support the streaming from the cameras to the VMS server and you will need to have a server to install the VMS on.
  21. I did test the new Pelco 1.3MP PTZ camera (don't remember the model number) with version of Avigilon that was 2 releases ago. I knew nothing about the camera besides seeing that it was on the supported list. I did see when I was setting up the connection it was a port different then 80 and it would not connect. I changed the port to 80 and I was able to connect. Avigilon's support is top notch and I am sure they will work this out for you if it is an issue with the software. Do you have a case number with them? Question. What are you thoughts on the Pelco cameras? Why did they dump the ENDURA platform?
  22. Do you watch your bandwidth on your server when you do this test? Cameras have limited number of connections in unicast........ You would have to switch to multicast to record 32 streams from one camera but I am not sure if that is a valid test either.

    Security company CRM??

Put me on this list too. I know IT companies that use this.... http://www.connectwise.com/ When I have the time I would like to test http://www.salesforce.com/ For Integrators http://dovenet.com/ http://www.solutions360.com/
  24. Before you sell a system based on Onvif you must test every camera to see if they work. This goes with any system. So you have a current Pelco system and you are replacing the VMS with Avigilon. Are you connecting to the cameras with Onvif or Pelco protocol?
