IP Network Setup (IP Addressing or Subnet)
thewireguys replied to MasterVision_Tech's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I always build a new network.... I look at it this way if your going with analog cctv you build your own UTP/Coax network but with IP you build a new network that is more valuable to the customer. Also last thing you want to do to a IT department is install some cameras on the network and "break" something on there corporate network. VLANs can be your best friend. -
SSD and more RAM..... I would recommend no less then 4GB of RAM

Sony SNCDH280 - Anything bad about it?
thewireguys replied to Guest's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I just signed up to be a SONY partner and I must say they have some impressive WDR and low light cameras. -
Don't start with the batteries you need to calculate the load first.
-
I have used these a couple of times with good results. http://www.seco-larm.com/FlushMountBallCam.htm Kind of a PTA to install but the end result was nice.

Wind would be an option. I was just thinking you could learn about batteries from guys that are doing solar.
-
All of these require more current which requires more batteries. Remember also you don't want to discharge the battery's to much or they will never charge again so you will need even more battery's to prevent this. I would start here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_(electricity) Then I would look a sites that specialize in solar power. FYI you could easily spend $3000 in batteries

What about Megapixel Cameras?
thewireguys replied to Numb-nuts's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
I can't agree with this statement. If your doing IP MP system over 8 cameras you have to know what your bandwidth is. -
lets talk mbps recording

Bandwidth is different with every VMS manufacture. Some are more efficient then others. You need to contact the VMS provider and ask. -

Best NVR Software for Arecont AV8185DN?
thewireguys replied to s-one's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The license will not expire but there is a $25 per year per license upgrade fee. EVIP-01 is one channel of the Pro version. 1-Channel means one camera per channel you are correct. Yes Exacq only requires 1 channel for the AV8185DN. -
FYI.... Routerboard is cheaper then Dlink and just as powerful as Cisco....
-
I like Sonicwall, Routerboard, Cradlepoint, Cisco.

IP is definitely easier and more flexible for systems over 16 channels. I can remotely program my systems from anywhere I have a internet connection including the cameras. HD/Megapixel sells itself and VMS software is definitely more expandable then 16 or 32 channel DVRs. Also customers can do more with a dedicated security network then just pulling miles of coax. You can add IP access control, Wifi access points, PTP, PTMP, MESH Networks, IP I/O.... IP networks give more value to the end user then coax. Oh and POE is awesome.

Best NVR Software for Arecont AV8185DN?
thewireguys replied to s-one's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
FYI 360/180 Arecont cameras only require one license if your using Exacq. Panoramic dewarping is not needed because of the multiple imagers. -
I am not sure surveillance-video is a authorized partner. CNB used to have a list on their site with un-authorized partners and I thought they where on that list.

Have anyone tried Exacq software with small a mini computer?
thewireguys replied to easytim's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Im pretty certain I would be able to tell the difference between using an Atom and a Dual Core. But the OP can use whatever he likes, im only voicing my opinion based on my experiences. My experience is with Exacq and other VMS's on Atom, iCore and Xeon machines. -

Rory not sure why you are questioning me on this. You would not be able to tell the difference between a Exacq server running with a Atom or a dual quad core Xeon. -

Rory an Atom runs Exacq fine with multiple megapixel cameras. I have run it on 1.6 and 2.0 Atoms. Exacq's El and ELS boxes are Atoms. Like I said I have used Windows 7 and Linux with out any issues. Personally I like Windows better because Teamviewer runs better. FYI Avigilon is more efficient then Exacq. -

It doesn't matter if you use Windows or Linux. If your gonna use an atom use it only as a server. -

Yes I have used Exacq on atom based machines in fact some of Exacq's boxes are using atom processors. The web client will run very slow but it will work and I do not recommend using USB drives.
