Just got a hold of an Arecont - how to get ip?
thewireguys replied to destro_23's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Actually, it probably won't. The "discovery" packet that the AV100 software sends out is a UDP datagram sent to the local subnet's broadcast address (i.e. 255.255.255.255) - an address that most routers, by design, will not route off of the originating subnet. Now some routers can be configured to forward broadcast packets from one subnet to another (e.g. so that one DHCP server can serve addresses to multiple subnets), but this is the exception rather than the norm. This "magic packet" is one of the things I really dislike about Arecont Vision cameras, BTW. Most other brands of IP cameras that I have dealt with give you alternative methods of configuring their cameras that don't involve having to install some special software package that you don't ever plan to use. I know it works because I have done this many times. I do like the Av100 software for one reason and that is you don't have to log into every camera to set them up. You fire up one piece of software and everything is right there. That is about the only thing Av100 is good for. I am very surprised Arecont has not released newer better software. -

I would say 95% HD/MP for me. Installed one analog DVR based system, one encoder based system and swapped out a time laps VCR for a DVR in the last 2 years. I am working on a large 176 camera project right now that we are replacing all the DVRs with encoders and adding HD/Megapixel cameras. As the old analog cameras die we will be replacing them with HD/Megapixel where needed.

Great, I think that's where my entry to Hdcctv is to begin --- I am going to start a project to get a demo setup in my offices and then let my customers take it from there. @Rory --- I see Dahua has also released an HDcctv 4 channel capture card ---- any idea on pricing, TVT will also soon release their HDcctv offering....these are the guys that are going to drive down the costs of Hdcctv. Is the Everfocus HDcctv compliant? I don't see the HDcctv logo anywhere on the cut sheet. http://www.everfocus.com/downloads/product_spec/HD%20CCTV/P63-64_ParagonHD.pdf Also I have a flyer on my desk for a 4 channel SDI dvr for $649

Odd behavior with IP cameras
thewireguys replied to amani's topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
The cameras have different streams. In house your viewing the stream set at 1 FPS. Your MvaaS provider is viewing a different stream set at a higher bit rate. If you go in house with a NVR and VMS you can connect and record at 1 FPS if you like. -

Airport cameras convert over to Ubiquiti IP
thewireguys replied to Lesst's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Fluidmesh is nice because you have a company behind you for support. Their MITO products are so easy to setup and install. One of the Nodes will be the master unit that that is where you will monitor and manage the network from. Also keep in mind Fluidmesh will to PTP, PTMP and MESH where Ubiquiti only does PTP and PTMP. With Fluidmesh you only pay for the speed that you need. So calculate the bandwidth form each device so you can come up with the plugins you will need. If you need help PM me.
