IP Cameras local network/bandwidth
tmescan posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Sorry for the noob question but does bandwidth only play an issue when trying to remote view a IP based system? If the client has an entry level high speed conection and does not have any intention of viewing cameras remotely how does this affect the # of IP cameras viewing/recording on the local network? is bandwidth still a factor? Thanks alot -

What determines the 100mb network? The router/switch? Thanks again -
IP Solution for large semi truck sales/repair lot?
tmescan posted a topic in IP/Megapixel Cameras and Software Solutions
Customer is interested in having good visual evidence of people breaking in to his large semi dealership. I cant imagine an analog setup being able to accomplish viewing this amount of area (600' x 400' on the rear and 200'x 200' on each side of the building) with good detail. There are poles with power at the edges of the parking lot (6 total). Would mounting 2MP IP cams with a wireless bridge at each of the poles be a viable solution? Im open to any suggestions thanks! -

futuresenry is a ptz. you just put a zoom standard or ip camera inside. and if you also use the wirless sensors. as mobile devices i.e you have a loaded truck parked up at night you put a sensor on it. I think it would be a decent solution for a lot with smaller vehicles...line of sight would become an issue unless i had a few of these units (way too expensive IMO) but it would take a beefy MP cam to be able to see clearly at all distances were needing... Im thinking 4 of the 500i tracking autodomes does anyone forsee any issues with this kind of setup? Its mainly for use at night when activity is at a minimum...thanks again for your ideas -

Furturesentry looks like a neat deterrent but wont do much good as far as capturing anything useful for evidence if they go for the goods anyways. IOImage PTZ looks nice...maybe 2 of those? Im guessing the client software is included? Any reccommendations of a simple machine to record and monitor them? Cant find prices anywhere... Thanks alot for the help great stuff! -
What would cause the live view of certain outdoor cameras to freeze up? The indoor cameras work fine but the oudoor cams constantly freeze up . After turning off/on power supply the cameras work for a little bit then do the same thing. All cameras are rated 12VDC and the power supply more than handle all the cams...any ideas? Thanks

what makes it a bad dvr? the cable runs are not long enough to need an amp...cams are rated at 200mA and i have a 18port 12A power supply
-
The 4 outside camera runs range from 50-250ft so they arent too long...I tried switching inputs (outdoor cam to indoor cam spot) but that just recreated the same problems at there new channel. It really just seems like they dont agree with the dvr...
-
Its just a no name stand alone 16 channel. No i havent tried that...do you think somehow the cameras are not compatible? They look fine when run to a test monitor....thanks

Have 3 locations with a mixture of indoor and outdoor cams. These locations worked fine for maybe a week or 2 then I noticed problems with the outside cameras creating interference with the DVR display. (static throughout all the channels/distortion/pixelation and sometimes the cameras would just go out completely or just freeze that specific camera) When I disconnect these cameras and just leave the indoor cameras, the units work fine. Could there be some sort of compatibility issue? All locations either have a 9 port/10amp or 18 port/12 amp power supply. The sens up cameras are rated at 200ma and the indoor cams are rated at 90ma ir off/210ir on. I have no problems when i use PC based dvrs, only with these 2 particular 16 channel stand alones...hellpppp pleaseeee

I have a project coming up this week which involves a company who would like surveillance cameras on a fenced in yard approx 300 yards away from their main facility. They dont have the network/funds to support any kind of IP camera system and currently have a wired network. My thoughts at the moment are to maybe add some kind of wireless AP or router to their network with a directional outdoor antenna to shoot wifi out to the yard and then use a network bridge to connect the DVR out there....anyone have other suggestions to this sort of setup? Thank you very much any kind of product suggestions would be great

sorry after doing some searching on here someone mentioned NanoStation NS2...with never using this product can anyone give me some better insight what the installation would entail? Do I need 2 of these one in repeater mode and one in bridge mode...can i attach the dvr straight to one of these? thank you -
Just wanted to see if any of you guys had experience with a mirror dome camera (model DP-615W). Im testing these cameras and everytime i put the mirror dome on the image turns to BW...the room is well lit and the gain control on the back seems to do little to nothing. I dont know why they would make a camera in the first place to automatically go to BW when its not even infrared. The image quality is great with the dome off but part of the reason we offered them is because of the mirror dome. Any help would be awesome...thanks
