I want to put a camera to view who is at my front door? What are some good ones?
-
This is what I get on my camera... anyone know whats wrong? I havent been able to fix it yet since its been raining.

Its not PTZ its a still dome camera. All it says here as far as model is SPECO HT 650 Series. I have gone through SPECO's website and I cant find anything that relates to those things I listed and what they do if I mess with it. All Im looking for is an explanation on what thos things are and what they do and how it affects the camera.

ok, here we go again. my camera has a agc and its set to on and I adjusted the iris by like 1/8 of a turn and it worked fine. Now I'm getting the same problem but its extremely cloudy right now with some drizzle. Could it be that I need to adjust the iris level more?

Sweet that fixed it. I just needed to adjust the iris level. Man was I worried.

Ok I just installed my cmaera last night and worked great. This morning around 6ish am the sun was coming up and i can see the picture going into color mode as the outside got brighter. then 20 mins after the screen starts to get whiter and whiter and whiter to where i lose my pic and now i have no picture. What would be the problem?

The title basically asks the question. I bought a Speco dvr-4TN and Im curious if I wanted to add more cameras in the future do I need to buy another dvr or can I simply add more ports to my current dvr so that I can make it an 8?

I'm installing 2 more cameras in front of my house. One will be going on the side that will view at that angle. The other at the front door. For the one that I will be using at the side of the house I was looking at this camera: KT&C KPC-N600NHDC10 or Speco CVC-7700DN Any suggestions on what i can use for my front door?

Hummmm, Well I live in California LA. I totally forgot about that point if its illegal. I dont know to be honest with you. The mic is only intended for security purpose in front of my home. I do live near an airport and lots of cars do pass by. Now im considering not getting a mic since it will be pretty noisy and pic of a lot of crap. Eh nvm I think Ill stay mic less. lol thanks for your input I really appreciate it.

I want to buy a mic where I can conceal by the front door and have it go to my dvr. Can anyone direct me to that proper website or link for that?
-
Ok So I finished installing 1 of my cameras on my driveway and boy was it a pain in the rear. I wall ran the cable in the wall up to the attic. Then down to the room where all my wires will be linked to my DVR. Ok my camera is a Speco HT 650 and there are some terms on here that I dont know what they mean and what its for. On the side of the camera is has these switches, Iris Level - whats that for? AGC on-off? whats that for? BLC on-off? whats that for? FLK on-off? whats that for? ALC or ELC? whats that for? Mirror on-off? whats that for? P/G on-off? whats that for? Thats what I see on the side of the camera. If someone could be kind enough to explain what they mean and if it helps my picture get clearer? Or how it affects my picture? I really appreciate any help of links that lead to that stuff. Thanks in advance.

Ok heres the question. I work for the cable company, Im an installer and we use RG-6 for the cable. But why is RG-59 used for cameras? I know why we use RG-6 but the only thing I can think of using the 59 is because of flexibility. If there is no difference, then I can buy the connectors and the crimping tools and use my wire and then go buy the power wire separately. Does that make sense? Whats the benefit of using RG-59?

Thank you, thats what I'm looking for a PTZ. I will keep the one I bought for a spot i mentioned. But who can direct me to a good PTZ camera? I know they are pricey but Im hoping one of you guys who knows most of this can direct me to a really goos PTZ decent in price. I keep hearing you get what you pay so I dont want to go cheap either. Its going on top of a roof. so I need it to be weatherproof. Any Suggestions? So far I have found these: Speco CVC-927PTZ Indoor/Outdoor Speed Dome Camera Panasonic WVCW964 I kinda like the Panasonic better. Anyone know of others? Also a good control or do they come with one? What I mean by control, Is the control used to work the PTZ camera.

K well here is what Im looking at. Ill be putting 3 cameras in front of the house and the dome on top to get a visual of whats going on outside. 1st camera would be front door to see whos at the door. 2nd would be left side of the house facing the driveway. 3rd would be on the right side to view any side entry and some of the front yard. For indoor Im not too worried YET. I bought a Liberty Safe Presidential 50. It will be very hard for them to break into that any time soon. But things get bad at night like gangsters and i hear gun shots near by and also I hear car passing by at 60mph on a residential street. I want the dome camera to be able to catch whats going on up front. I want to be able to zoom and turn it to view something else as well. Btw dome cameras allow you to remotely turn and zoom in n out right? The one I bought I'm hoping it lets me turn it around with a control and zoom. I'm trying to enforce some speed bumps in my neighborhood but i need proof to send to the city how fast these idiots are going in front of a school zone. I live 2 blocks from an elementary and I swear its a highway. Back to the subject though. I'm just basically looking to buy some nice cameras that will be good for night and day. I'm open to any type of suggestions. What cameras what brands etc.
