AMD passed those out to their execs when they came out with their 64-bit chip last year. Nice laptop and a good deal at $2K.

What's a nice starter box cam, clean professional image?

Depend on what you're looking for. Color? B&W? Day/Night? Price range? -
I hear it can take anywhere from 10 hours to a week before you get sucked into a worm hole. So you might want to give it another try and be more patient. It helps if you stand very still and position your hands open on top of your head as if you have moose antlers.

I bought it about 3 years ago to use as a “semi-telephotoâ€
-
Can't; it's past its warranty.

Oh, that’s just a worm hole to another galaxy.

The camera is not IR sensitive, so it can't be used at night. I've cleaned the inside and outside of the outer glass and lens. Yes, and focused. The image is much better in low light, but next to worthless in bright sunlight.

Unlike Rory, I’m not so crazy about the quality of the ProVideo bullet cameras. I have a 3-year-old HEAT camera that produces an image like a Monet painting. It’s actually very “artistic,â€

Yeah. Skinny bald guy with a round head and pasty white complexion. He sort of looks like a balloon with a string attached.

Same here.... Another thanks to Cooperman.

For someone looking for the following features: * Mechanical IR cut filter * Auto Iris Lens * Vandalproof / Weatherproof The current contestants are: * Sanyo VDC-D1184VA * Sony SSC-CD73V * Nuvico NVCC-HVD Questions: * What other cameras should be added to this list? * What camera would you choose and why?

So, all I need is a 4mm view. Would it be better to get the 4mm fixed or the 4-9mm vari-focal?
-
The confusion is that for the 4~9mm lens, they say 'Vari-Focal DC Auto Iris'. But for the 4mm, they simply say 'Fixed Lens'. See: http://www.buycctvforless.com/cam_HVD.php
-
Ok, so what's up with the 4mm on the Nuvico? AI or no AI?
-
I have several fixed focal length lenses that have an auto iris. I don't know about domes (don't have any yet), but there are plenty of standard CS-type cameras that support AI lenses with a fixed focal length. So why would it be harder to outfit an auto iris on a fixed lens than a vari-focal lens in the Nuvico?
-
Does anyone know if the fixed 4mm lens packaged with the Nuvico NVCC-HVD has an auto iris? Most of the literature I've seen suggests that only the vari-focal lenses have an auto iris.
-
Short answer: no. There's a lens in the IR fixture that filters the light "down to" the IR wavelength.

I vote for camera 3. (Just saw some guy drive off in a jeep.)

Instructions?

Got my good glasses on...

Dang! You must’ve been a sight hitchhiking with your head all bashed up. Whoever picked you up must’ve been a saint.
