Hi, I'm new to CCTV.
I have managed to get my Hikvision camera working with my PC via a ethernet connection using a poe injector. I have the pc on a wireless network (it has a wireless card pci)to the router a distance away.
i want to add more cameras to my system or network. However can i do this by adding a poe switch or more injectors. But how do i connect the cameras to my netowork as i have only one network card. Do i need to install more network cards or plug in a switch into the ethernet port of my pc to expand the ethernet connections. I can always buy more poe injectors or a poe switch to add more points but will it work that way.
Ideally i want to view all cameras via the software provided vms 4200. I can change the ip address of cameras with the sadp tool. I have the dhcp checked on the sadp tool.
i'm not too fussed if i can't login via browser or have internet functionallity as they will be standalone systems which can record daily onto a HDD.
