Ip cameras and internet connection
cctvman1379 replied to Opeth's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
Hi yes the nvr will work without internet on IP cameras The IP address will be the address of your box which will need to be on the same lan as the router Gateway will be the router IP address that you log into via web browser for admin setup so for example if your router address is 192.168.0.1 your nvr address will be 192.168.0.? Last number is whatever is allocated by router If set to dhcp or stick last couple of digits in yourself 192.168.0.45 for example Subnet will be 255.255.255.0 Gateway will be something like 192.168.0.1 ( if that's your router address ) Port number use anything other than default http do not use 80 use another set of numbers ie 313 Server port is the nvr connection port which will be default depending on manufacturer change that to another number ie 4534 You'll need to port forward but more about port forwading when your internet service is setup hope that starts you off -

From experience in the 2000,s when I worked in the cctv installation as a trainee I was always taught to use beldon screened 2 pair cable for data transmission and earth the screen wire I've never trusted cat5 or cat6 as a transmission line I have ptzs at home and have cabled in beldon cable and the job I'm working on at present I'm cabling the data in beldon it's just how I was trained and have carried it on for 15 years

The cameras draw aprpx 500ma per camera with infrared active and colour day is about 400ma no infrared you don't need all the pairs for power I use brown and white brown as pos and blue pair as neg

cctvman1379 replied to martynball's topic in Video Transmission/Control Devices
Couldn't you just run a cable from DVR monitor output to TV direct -
Have you tried a different camera that looks like many cable fault in honestly could be a slight short between dialectic and shield
-
You'd be better hanging the whole system to mp CCTV and a new DVR or NVR depending on wiring utilising the original HDDs
-
If the camera is approx 10 years old you'd be better off cHanging that t.o a new camera system completely as that will be low resolution CCTV
-
The PSU isn't heavy enough in current to support the IR change over this is why I prefer seperate boxed power supplies over plug in power supplies
-
Looks like the power supply is the same as the supply for the cameras from the splitter I'd guess not enough power current from the psu can you try a separate psu on just the one camera see if that's makes a difference at night
-
Could be a powers issue does the power supply the DVR and all the cameras or is it powered seperately from the cameras and DVR

Run cat 5 to the gate house then a converter at each end powered locally should work no problem you may have to drop the signal to 720p though -
And what part of the country are you in can you get your installer out to reset the password
