Is the internal ip switch with its own ip address range (as opposed to the external lan ip port) only provided if the nvr supports poe? I get the impression that non poe nvr’s have both nvr and camera ip’s on a common subnet with no separate internal nic (is that correct?) Why would a non poe nvr with ip ports for the cameras be any different is this regard (other than not supplying power via the network cable?) Regards

Hi all - Am new to the forum - (and really impressed) I have a Hikvision DS-7104ni-sn/p NVR I was given a camera with the following specs: Model Number: C146P36 960P IP Camera made by Ansjer The info from the manufacturer says that it supports: FTP/PPP OE/DHCP/DDNS/NTP/UPnP/ONVIF and Compression: H.264, AVI formats I contacted their tech help and was further told that: The camera does NOT support RTSP nor POE I was trying to see if I could interface it to the DS-7104ni-sn/p NVR I connected the camera to my LAN and can view it in IE at its IP address I can also view it on an android device with TinyCam This camera has a media port set to 34567 and the HTTP port is 80 It has a user name and password set Camera IP is: 192.168.2.55 NVR IP is: 192.168.2.108 Now with the NVR also connected to the LAN and having logged in to the configuration page, I was hoping to be able to add the camera using the Custom add IP camera under the protocol management menu; But I get an error - see pic 2 below I did read a number of references to adding third party cameras and it seems that I would need to choose the ONVIF protocol type. If I look under the protocol mangement menu it seems to use RTSP under the stream - see pic below now this camera doesn't support RTSP but this seems be used by ONVIF - So is this a no-go with this camera and this NVR ? (yes I intend to go with something newer, but while I have the camera, I thought I'd try it) thanks all regards Russell
