I've had my Avtech Avc756 setup for about 5 years and I think its time for an upgrade. I'm not happy with the user interface and software available for this system. What would you guys recommend I do?
-
I was going to look for a local installer since my time is limited. That's why I don't mind building a system.. If I do go with the Costco system.. Would I be able to upgrade the cameras in the future? An example of the wuality of my current setup

Thanks boogieman! Are you talking about the cat 5 cable (quality solid cable)? I'm going to check out the reviews on that system and cameras. I'm looking for detailed footage

I'm going with the second option. I tried doing a search but I'm new to this and dont even know where to start. I need a good 8 channel dvr (is ip system considered a "dvr"?) with user friendly menus and mobile access. Next step would be choosing the right cameras for each area of the home.

No I'm not. The image is not as clear as I would like. I need all the help I could get

I have had my dvr running perfect for a week. Yesterday all of a sudden I heard it beeping every other min. I thought the hardrive was full so I let it go. There were times it was a back to back beep. I went to my tv to see if the hardrive was full and it was def not. It was at 466.*** (500gb drive) I'm guessing it had recently reset. I keep looking at the screen and the dvr just shut off. The beeping was the dvr reseting itself and beeping when it would turn back on. What could be causing this to happen?!?

what could have cause a new drive to go bad?

Will any hardrive fit right in the same slot or should I get the same brand (seagate)? Also, is it just plug and play or will I have to mess with some settings once I plug in the new drive?

From DVR out to 3 TV's.... HELP NEEDED!
dnsource posted a topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I have a leviton Panel in my AV closet where I had hooked up a 1x4 passive video splitter which didnt work. I went over to radio shack and purchased an RF modulator which I got it to work putting my TV to channel 3 (only tried it on 1 TV because my other 2 TV's are crappy monitors and dont have coaxial inputs (only video and HDMI). My question is... Is there any Leviton product I can buy to make this happen?? I just wanted that clean look and to keep all the wires in the box. -

So I ordered my AVTECH DVR model avc756 online along with 8 cameras. The install guy came in today and set everything up but when we went to test it out the image came out in black and white. I know its not the cameras because he tested them on directly a monitor he brought. The image looked so much more clearer and in color. What could this be???? I just purchased a home and I'm in the process of re-wiring everything. I have 2 questions before I purchase my DVR system and wires. 1) What 8 ch standalone system do you guys recommend for a first time purchase on a budget...anywhere from $200-$400 (doesn't have to be top of the line, just a decent system) 2) I was told to run a coaxial cable from my DVR in A/V closet to all my TV's to be able to see my cameras...I have not purchased any TV's but I am planning on putting all LCD TV's on wall but I noticed ALL tvs I looked at dont have coaxial inputs....WHAT CAN I DO?????

Advice and questions for my first DVR system
dnsource replied to dnsource's topic in Digital Video Recorders
So my soffit is almost impossible to get to in my attic. I also tried to rub it through the soffit to one point to the transfer the wires in and I would have to take out all the vents (clips bend and have to be nailed in). Is there a wireless system I could get???? -

Ok now that I'm clear on that... What 8 chanell dvr system do you guys recomend for a first time buyer on a budget(I can always upgrade later). I hAve read aver is a good brand. For my cameras I would prefer domes since my soffits are pretty low (10-11ft or so). All I need is 4 cameras for now (I know I will probably add later). Thanks -
