  1. do avigilon cameras require the avigilon s/w? or are they fairly plug and play with other software based nvr systems? couldn't find much regarding this on their website... particularly the jpeg2000 streaming
  2. maybe a dumb question, i know they are for dslr type cameras, but if i have a bunch of cs mount 13vdir pelco lenses from some old analog 1390's can i use them on newer cs mount ip cameras? thanks
  3. thanks, great info. mine are 1/3 format, so i'll look into that. no idea how you match "resolution" on a lens though. not exactly a 1:1 for a pixel resolution/comparison. guess you just have to take the mfg word for it...

    pelco 30x motorized zoom lens

i've got a pelco 30x lens i need to get rid of. this is the deluxe version with presets, auto iris, motorized zoom and focus. looking for about $350, about 1/3 of the cheapest online price. still new in the box, never installed. specs it's the 13ZD5.5X30P, pm if interested...

    pelco 30x motorized zoom lens

i have 3 actually, all new. will give even more of a "volume discount" if you take them all, $750 for 3... if anyone is interested, i can post a buy it now on a popular auction site for anyone looking for a more "official" sale.

    avtech and usb

this may sound stupid, but does the usb drive have to be inserted at a specific time to be read? my drive i had lying around didn't work, so i bought a 1gb micro cruzer, which is on the supported list. i didn't specifically format it, but when i check props on it, my laptop says it's formatted FAT... my 781 is giving me format errors and not showing any capacity... edit*** so i guess the compatibility list should read "sandisck micro cruzer with reformat... went from fat to fat32 and all is well.

    Avtech 761 image quality

from scorpions site... The AVTech AVC 760, CPCam 560, and the Nubix 4BC is a model 3. This is the only one that cannot be backed up with a USB, it has to be backed up by the remote software. Model 3 does not have the USB feature. Models 1,2, 4, and 5 do. http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/760.pdf AVC 761, and the CPD 561 is a model 4 MJPEG at frame, MPEG4 at CIF, 1 audio in, with IR. http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/761.pdf AVC 781, and CPD 501 is a model 2 MPEG4 at frame, MPEG4 at CIF, 2 audio in, no IR. http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/781.pdf AVC 782A, and CPD 502 is a model 1 MPEG4 at frame. Model 1 is the only one with the CD back up, and it has 2 audio inputs. Model 5 does not have the power/data bus, but it has 2 audio inputs, CD back up, and it has IR. http://211.75.84.102/web/manu/782.pdf
  9. well, the motion is fine. not too much blur or jaggies. the live feed is good at night, so i think the cameras are ok. i've been noticing that on darker nights (no moon) the compression noise on the dvr gets worse, so i'm kinda guessing that's it. i think the gain is probably messing with it too. i should probably turn it off and see if i can still see...
  10. while both of my live images (day and night) seem pretty clear (focused), i notice that i get more compression noise (mpeg4) during the night shots. are there any generalities for helping the compression algorithm not get go confused, ie, add more light, raise/lower gain, etc? or, does anyone have any good resources to point ot on the subject matter?

    Pulling Video off AVTech 761

does anyone know if they only "officially" support up to 1GB or has anyone used 2GB or more on any of the cpcam hardware?

    Hotel DVR Recommendations?

hopefully it's not for something like this...
  13. kinda what i figured, just wondering if anyone had a particular easy trick to make it better. granted i'm only running one of the cpcam 501's and i know what to expect for my money. i probably woudn't even have questioned it except for that the daytime recorded/compressed picture, and the live picture for both the night and day scenes look acceptable to me. btw, i'm running what "cpcam" calls D1 fram, at best, and it does mpeg4. i have the pelco, ir corrected F1.1 lenses and good cabling. i really think it's all in the poor(er) compression, but i also realize there are things you can still do to help smooth it out... thanks for the input, it's much appreciated,
  14. i have one of the pleco 1390 day/nights. the night image looks fine and free of noise when i watch it live, i'm just thinking that the noise is comming in during the dvr compression. i guess what i'm asking is, is there prefered conditions that will give the dvr less headache. ie, do brighter or sharper or any other type of scenes help stop some of the artifacts of the software/hardware compression.
  15. ftp://www.pelco.com/ProductSpecs/Pelco_CCC1390H_Series_Color_Camera_spec.pdf this is the smallest true day night i've come across that has decent #'s... pretty small body...
  16. ftp://www.pelco.com/ProductSpecs/Pelco_13VDIR_Series_Day_Night_Lens_spec.PDF i'm looking for an ir lens for a 1/3" cs mount in the 8-50mm range, so far the best i can find for an F stop is 1.3 in the above pelco link. does anyone have any reccomendations for others or is this about as good as it gets on average? my 3-8mm lenses have F:1.1, but i don't tend so see anything like that for bigger zooms...

    aperature in ir zoom lenses

thanks for the info. the non day/night (non ir correcting) fujinon is 1.4 and the day night(FVL550AI-DN) is 1.6 for about the same price as the pelco, so i think i'll stick with that for now.. thanks again.

    Compact Housing and lens suggestion

there's a line of pelco cameras that seem to have good specs for their wdr, day/night CCC1390H-6... they seem to be half the size of most boxes and fit in smaller enclosures. edt*** they (pelco) makes a 2805 (2508? i don't recall) enclosure that's only 8" long and fits the above camera with most of the shorter pelco lenses... (not any of the high zoom stuff)

    761 vs 781

i was following some of scorpions referrals to the 781 dvr but don't see it on the mfgs website anymore... other than extra features, is there a picture quality difference between these two models? i see the spec sheet for the 761 and it records at 240 lines. the only specs i can find for the other are from ebay sellers pages and they "seem" to suggest that the 781 records at 480 lines, but i'm not sure... thanks guys edit*** i gues i need to update this, i was set on the 781, but found another CPD 4ch, the 503. the specs seem the same as the 501(781) except it seems to support 3 hard drives( again, i'm guessing with hit and miss documentation). anybody know what benefits would be in the 503 vs 501?

    ge pro/digia dvrs

i'm trying to figure out why the proii recorders are over twice the price of digia recorders for the same camera # and hard drive capacity... it seems like the digias record at D1, higher frame rates and use mpeg4 where the proii only does 2cif, lower rates and wavejet... the only plus i was for the pii was it seemed to have better net protocols and software. is it just an overall build quality thing? http://www.ismrep.com/gechart.pdf

    Motion Detect

not posative, but it sounded like scorpion said earlier that the only way to get the frame rate up higher than the 7.5 is to actually shut off the other channels on the bank in the menu system, otherwise they share the 30 all the time...

    761 vs 781

btw, i'm assuming that if i'm only using 2 cameras, i can get 15 ips... hope i'm not wrong here.

    CPD507 any good?

hey scruit, i saw your post with the utube links for the 576, are you looking for the 507 to replace it?

    761 vs 781

thanks for the info yet again, the frame rate isn't bad for me as i only plan on 2 cameras... i guess it boils down to if i want to spend an extra $30 on a remote. don't think so. thanks scorpion!

    761 vs 781

thanks alot for those links, not sure why i didn't run into them on your site. so it looks like there is no difference in the video specs on the 2 boards (501/503) just the audio and peripherals (remote, extra drive array, etc). they both seem to record 720 X 480 pixels with 30 IPS NTSC in frame. that said different equipment with the same specs can perform differently, do you have any opinions on the 503 vs 501 video quality wise? or are they pretty much the same thing? thanks again for stopping by my post.
