  1. Kiwi - Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! I'll try it out tonight. Brian
  2. Kiwi, I recently bought a 3130 too, can you provide the steps you took to re-configure the 3130 from color default of 2.3 megapixel to display 3.1 megapixel? I've tried to contact Arecont customer service for setup help and they have decided to ignore their customers. Thanks! Brian

    Need Advice

Maybe some specs of what you would like to accomplish would help us. What's your budget for cameras? Would you like to go analog or IP type? Indoor and outdoor type? Day Night? PC based DVR cards are usually 8 or 16 cameras each so to run more you just add another card to the PC. Avermedia makes DVR cards for Linux PC based DVR. HTH...

    New residential security system

Thanks for the tip on Exacq software. It looks like just the thing to use. I can't send you a PM since I still have less than 10 posts, other wise I'd ask for the demo link. I'll look at the lens you recommended too. Thanks!

    New residential security system

Hi, I’m interested in installing a quality residential security system. Here is a list of desired items in the system. • High resolution – face recognition up to 50 feet • Day and Night vision • Outdoor weather proof • Excellent frame rate for both viewing and recording • Internet accessible • 3 camera locations. Some totally exposed to weather, some inside a garage. • Network software (Luxriot?) I’m guessing IP megapixel would be the best route so cameras would be on a separate CAT6 gigabit network with PoE. I already have a LAN but want to separate the bandwidth. I like the IQeye Sentinel Series cameras, 2.0 Mpixel, but that’s allot of coin. Thinking more along the Arecont Vision line, maybe AV2100-AI and AV3130. Trying to stay less than $800 a camera. Any suggestions on what you might do different? Lens suggestions would be helpful. Finally a good place to shop? Thanks for your ideas! Best regards, Brian
