  1. Post a drawing of your facility ---- separate each area into quadrants, define in each quadrant the concerns you have and the solution you desire...then I will tell you what cameras to put there.

How to optimize an HDip Solution

Actually --- I purchases lenses from Fuzhou Feihua Optoelectronic Technology Co., Ltd., a manufacturer for the chinese military , in business since 1958 or something t! And I would agree ---- similarly on our IR Array cameras we specified IR lenses, and the result is less than standard IR cams.

How to optimize an HDip Solution

I would like to get views from others on what key issues are considered important for optimizing an HDip solution. Hopefully the discussion will not deteriorate into a this brand vs that brand debate - just insights into issues that have been responsible for problems in HDip installs. Thanks in advance

    HDcctv Cards

Nice, do you know what would be the Dahua models equivalent to DG4208HF and DG4216HF? I did see them on youtube exhibition video , but not off the cuff!
  5. This is great --- but where is the controlled supply channel ----looks like this distribution channel is not providing the support expected if purchasers are coming onto public forums for assitance!
  6. I am going with Dahua and TVT--- for entry level, you might get 5 dollars cheaper --- but for features in the box, I don't think anything is gonna touch it RMA of less than 2%, listed companies on the shenzhen stock exchange, dahua running around 9 on the A&S global security company list, massive reinvestment in R&D --------look no further!

How to optimize an HDip Solution

I personally wouldnt say IR is for night or even low light, I would say its primarily for Pitch Dark applications. Although in some cases it can help under low light depending on the camera used, but most low light applications can get away with no IR as long as the cameras are sensitive enough - these days though alot of the single chip day night cameras produce so much noise under low light and even their latest Digital Noise Reduction then leads to other image distortions. Best day night camera is and always will be a dual Color and BW camera (aka Dual CCD though some may use CMOS now like with IP cameras). Yes about 5 years ago I bought a stupid simple dome camera and that thing without any IR put almost all the cameras I had to shame--- Indeed modern cameras can do well in low light, and are getting better ---- But again what is the point of putting an IR lens on a camera if not to optimize the IR function? In day or night or low light or pitch dark?

    HDcctv Cards

That will probably be a Dahua card --- I will check with them on the pricing!@ Could be. They also told me about their DG4208HF and DG4216HF cards (8ch and 16ch D1 real time), which would compete with Hikvision DS-4208HFVI and DS-4216HFVI (at a cheaper price); they can even be used toguether on the same computer with Netvision software. "And very glad to introduce our new cards to you which can work with Hikvision cards in one PC system with our software. The new cards are designed to compete with DS-42xxHFV cards. According to our testing, the image quality is even better than DS-42xxHFV. And our new DG42xxHF cards have multi-splits, while DS-42xxHFV only single screen. Enclosed the specification. For more details, please contact me." http://www.netvisiondvr.com/ProductInfo.asp?id=100 http://www.netvisiondvr.com/ProductInfo.asp?id=101&n=1 I have not yet tried any Netvision PCi card, so I can not vouch for them. Yep that will be Dahua cards -

Where do you buy your cameras?

same here -- the only members of my network community who are surviving are those who are servicing government, military etc, as well as those who are focused on rentals.

How to optimize an HDip Solution

IR can be used for indoors also, not just at night - in fact I normally focus my cameras for IR apps inside a garage in the daytime, and do the rest of the optimizing at night. But the point was that not all night vision cameras need Infrared, take BW cameras for example, I use them everywhere with no IR, or fixed lens cameras, dont need IR corrected lenses, there are many situations that they are just not even needed to begin with. And I was doing long range IR apps for years before IR lenses were even thought of, I had better images back then without trying to rely on some minimal effect from a supposed IR corrected lens. IR lenses these days are over marketed, over used, and still overpriced. In fact in my experience IR cameras of today suck compared to how they were before, not everything new is good. No need to oversell ----- just stating that IR isn't always used at night is sufficient to modify my premise - because I locked into the night vision application. So I change to low light But I did think the point of applying an IR lens was to optimize ----revision---- low light applications. By the way --- you do realize that if it had been me expanding on IR Nightvision technology in a thread labelled how to optimize Hdip solution --- soundy would have already retitled this with terms like hijacking and trolling ----- LOL, just jesting --- neither here nor there to me!

How to optimize an HDip Solution

Not really, it helps with the focus shift under IR in some cases, but otherwise not every camera used for night apps warrant the need of an IR corrected lens, or even IR as mentioned. Ive used IR corrected lenses and they dont always work as they claim anyway, in most cases there is still nothing like a hands on approach, and a little off focus in either visible light or near infrared light is generally required. Either way, optimizing a day night camera will require setup during the day and the night, and if it uses Infrared, under pitch dark conditions. One other way to optimize a Day Night camera for IR conditions is in addition to using a sensitive chip among other features, and removing the IR cut filter, is using an IR pass filter when the IR cut filter is removed. When one applies an IR lens it is intended to optimize the operation of the IR function, i haven't really seen IR operating in the day! So i guessed that any IR optimization was aimed at visuals in the night.
  12. If it's for business i would suggest you don't buy from ebay. My customer pay me more for the products, but they phone me out of bed at 6am on a saturday morning -- I give them good service, because they pay me well. You haven't paid the ebayer well, so he's not giving you any support or service. I would like to help you, but there just isn't any way for me to tell at the moment if you bought a legitimate or a copy card!

  15. Seeing that I was Pm'd on the forum with information regarding the netvision DVR and Software -- the card is "apparently" a genuine hikvision card, It's probably fair game for me to ask if anybody has any experience with this DVR card manufacturer? In short , after buying tons of junk samples from China over the past 6 years, I don't easi;ly purchase samples any longer --- is the card of any use?, is the software stable or buggy as is common for Chinese cards?

    best CCTV for these requirements?

You where happy with the ICAMview devices to a point ---- so where is it that the current setting is failing your requirements? What need is not being met by your current system?
  17. Can't wait to get stock of my 650TVL WDR Effio CCD Cams------I'll post when i get them in!
  18. Rory, these are awesome pics for cameras that are non mp; I am now glad I did not jump on the mp bandwagon. if this bullet camera had an audio and black or dark green in colour I would deffo gone for it; perfect camera for semi covert monitoring sneaked under the hedge. LOL --- no artifacts, no tearing --- who needs MP ? Only people who are using junk analog!

Why not get rid of it....buy another one from somebody on this forum local to you --- and then you will have all the support you need?

    HDcctv Cards

Great, I think that's where my entry to Hdcctv is to begin --- I am going to start a project to get a demo setup in my offices and then let my customers take it from there. @Rory --- I see Dahua has also released an HDcctv 4 channel capture card ---- any idea on pricing, TVT will also soon release their HDcctv offering....these are the guys that are going to drive down the costs of Hdcctv.
  21. Would you really pay $500 more, Plus $50 for a HD lens to get a better image than you have there on camera 1. And then just resign yourself to the fact that you are going to have artifacts, and errors which are going to distort the image because thats what lossy compression does. I wouldn't ---- don't know about others!

    Miniature Pan-Tilt-Zoom

The question cannot be answered unless somebody has used the camera and done so for about 2 years. Rather focus on the supplier or manufacturer: Do they have and implement an active quality program ? Do they have real ISO certification - not Fake? If they say they have a quality program - what do they mean- R&D, and the receptionist double for quality department staff? What is their R&D reinvestment? What is their provable RMA rate? of course there is a lot more - and we deploy agents specifically to establish and verify these issues before we even start talking to a manufacturer. It's asking a bit much to get a comment about the camera in the way you have - sorry!
  23. I finally got it ---- all this hype about ip giving better images than analog --- It's because people are using Junk analog. Here's some more entry level analog DVR shots. Screenshot of video delivery in South Africa from our manufacturers premises in Hangzhou China Same from the manufacturers side This is the camera in use!

  25. Indeed, we are doing it daily ------ flat text capture to external database , text injected to video overlay - software integration.......then we have dvr's with the built in capability to do pos search and we have the customer who is happy to do manual searches for video that has overlaid transactions. Almost nothing can't be done!
