Best 480/480 D1 Solution? Nuvico APEX? Vitek XL? Samsung 360
mpr86 posted a topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hello, We are having 32-cameras installed, and I have been researching what DVR's to purchase for a while. We want the ability to record in real time 480 PPS and and real time display of 480 PPS at D1 (CIF 4) resolution. So far, I have only found one major brand that does this, the Nuvico APEX 1600 series DVR. The Vitek XL 1680 and the Samsung 1645 does 480/480 in CIF 1 although they are still an option. What would you guys recommend, has anyone had any experience with the new Nuvico APEX line or any of the other units I have listed? Please let me know. Thanks! -
Decided to go with the Geovision GV-2008 setup. Some Q's
mpr86 replied to mpr86's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Thanks for the alway informative responses rory. I spent $935 a card, based on your experience, does that low of a price generally equate to something shady such as no software/box/manuals/cable etc. or should I be fine? The site was wholesaledvrcards d0t com. I am really stresssing out here hoping that the card's are fully authentic brand new in box. Anyone hear of them? Deal with them? In addition, do you have any sample videos of a Geovision ssytem? Thanks again -
Decided to go with the Geovision GV-2008 setup. Some Q's
mpr86 posted a topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Decided with four GV-2008 cards, and two systems to handle the 32 channels. I got the cards at a great price and hope they come brand new etc. If I wanted to link the two systems in order to view them online etc, do I need to purchase additional software from Geovision to do this? Or does it all come with the cards. Any other tips/recommendations? Thanks -
GeoVision / Avermedia: Are these the best consumer DVR Cards
mpr86 replied to mpr86's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Doh no way to stack at all? What restricts them from being stackable? What would you recommend if not a dell? Home made? -
Mods please do not move this to a GeoVision / Avermedia subforum. I previously posted on looking into purchasing a 32 channel DVR from eDigital Deals but was told that is not the way to go. I have decided instead, to build a Dell server: Dual Core (Or should it be a single core?), 1 TB HD, 2GB of ram etc. Upon looking, it seems this forum really covers the GeoVision / Avermedia base well. Are these the most common / stable / best software DVR cards out there? I am interested in getting two 16 channel GeoVision 480 FPS GV-1480 and installing both of them in one single system. Is this feasible? Is this the best route? Thanks!

CCTV Installation in Elevator. Cable requirment questions.
mpr86 replied to mpr86's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
The elevator guys told me there is an 18guage already running in the travel shaft, would this be adequate? I guess I will get more info from them, they are going to fax me a list of available cables in there, but he said there was around 10 spare cables running. Do you have an e-mail address I could ask you a few questions via? Thanks a lot -

Hello, I am interested in installing a DVR for a building. I have been doing some research and have found a "32 Channel 960/960fps REAL-TIME Hardware Compressed H.264 DVR with 32 Channels of Audio" DVR. I can't link as I have <5 posts, but the specifications state: "Product Specifications: • Real-time full-motion video (Max. 30fps per channel) with synchronous audio on every channel • Up to 64 cameras can be viewed simultaneously from a single monitor • Hardware compressed H.264 -- each channel is compressed independently • Customizable image quality and resolution (up to Full D1 704 x480) • Remote access and recording on client computer through LAN (network) or WAN (Internet) through static IP or dynamic DNS • Monitor multiple locations from one DVR • Bi-directional two-way remote communication between multiple servers in various locations • Motion detecting (entire frame or up to 12 detection zones per channel) • Four recording modes: Continuous recording, Motion Detection, External Sensor, or Sensor/Motion •Alarm email message auto-sending with photo attachment • Matrix card allows recorded data to be transmitted to a TV monitor (optional) • Duplex mode -- recording during playback • P/T/Z/F & Speed Dome control through software or keyboard -- no additional hardware required • PTZ Auto-tracking with motion detection • Search/playback by date/time directory (random-access)" Is this a good system? I am looking for something that can do 30 frames per second recording. The website that is selling this is edigitaldeals d0t c0m Anyone have any other recommendations for a high end DVR with internet capabilities? Thanks -

Hello, I am having 3 cameras installed in 3 elevators on a 15 story building. These 3 cameras, along with another 28 cameras located throught the building are going to be connected to a DVR room on the first floor. The cameras which I am purchasing are corner mount cameras which run on 12V DC 300mA The elevator company is telling me there is spare cable already available in the travel shaft. I was wondering what cable is required to run these camers? Would a RG-59 be required in this case? In addition, I heard we need to run Baliuns or something. What is a Baliun and is it required? Finally, the cables are terminating on the top floor (15th), but the DVR is on the 1st floor, would it be fine to run a connector to the top cable all the way back down and to the DVR room? Power to the camera would be supplied directly off the elevator car. Thanks
