    DX7000-16 Replacement?

Thanks for the reply. I can't find a silk screened name on the motherboard like I'm used to seeing with computers. There is a small label which near as I can tell says: Janus 60JA3 FR1B31-1 V3.0 03/09/2001 F4E7 Some of the "1"'s could be "I"'s - it's hard to tell for sure. As far as features I'm used to with the DX7000, lets see if I can come up with a list: 1)At least 16 channels - 24 would be better 2)Motion Detection - ability to dynamically allocate more FPS to cams with activity. Or only record when motion is present. 3)At least 2 weeks backlog - more if possible. Can be activity only. 4)Easy scene & snapshot recording to CDRW or DVD/RW 5)Remote monitoring via internet 6)Compatible with Pelco Spectra III PTZ cams as well as fixed Pelco cams 7)Current system has a separate KBD300A & Coaxitron translator. Replacement compatible with this? Fullscreen, Quad, All Camera views. 9)Search by date&time, when there's activity. 10)320 X 240 is fine. Higher resolution would probably kill record capacity? There's probably something I'm not thinking of, but that's a start.
  2. Hello, My DX7000 recently bit the dust. I think it's a motherboard failure but I'm not sure. It doesn't even appear to post when powered up. No signal is ever sent to the screen or keyboard as far as I can tell. The "HD" light stays solid red as soon as the unit is powered up. I tried the hard drives (all 5 of em') in a Win98 computer and they all pass scandisk fine, except for the boot drive. Scandisk found and repaired a few errors on it. Now it passes a subsequent scandisk. I can't figure out any way to get into the BIOS, or failing that get it to boot from a startup disk in the floppy drive. Anybody know any tricks here? If it really is DOA does anyone have a suggestion for an easy swapin replacement? I will need at least 16 channels, 24 would be better as I'm currently maxed out and wouldn't mind adding a couple of cams. I guess the DX8016 is Pelco's current replacement? It's a little pricey, but that doesn't scare me too bad if it's the best fit. Am I missing a better value out there? I'm not very informed on other brands. TIA for any help!
