way2evil started following Problem with DVRUSA DVR
-
I have a linux based DVRUSA box. It was running on Fedora 9. The other day the cameras stopped appearing and showed black boxes instead. I tested the cameras with a TV and they show fine so they are getting power. I called DVRUSA support and was told to reinstall Fedora 9. No problem as they have a download on their website for it. So I go to download it and it doesnt work at all (the download) because their host is unreachable. So after that I was told to download it from anywhere. I grab a F9 torrent and install it just to find that F9 has no drivers for the video card they installed. Their support line has no idea what to do besides send me a disc of F9 and wait a week for it to arrive or pay 60 dollars to have it overnighted. What I would like to know is if there is a way to get this box running as soon as possible, possibly with another software. Its just a computer with a capture card, and I have heard that DVRUSA software is really Hawkeye rebranded. Could I just run hawkeye software?

very cool, anything else i should know before i place an order?
-
forgive me for asking a noob question but can the cameras be monitored remotely accross a lan/wan with a program or through internet explorer/ff?
-
does this have to be purchased seperately? do you have a picture of it? edit: i am pretty much set on the GeoVision GV1480 combo card. I found it for $1100 on a good reputable site. I just have a few questions before I make a purchase, I only have one PCI slot, what should I go with, the DVI or the Dtype? Also, can the codec be adjusted in the settings? Is h264 the "best" codec?

can anyone shed some light on this? i have a quad core with three gigs of ram now that i dont use, i am looking to make a dvr out of it. however, it only has one pci slot, one pci 1x slot, and one pci xpress x16 slot which is in use. its running vista. what needs to be done and purchased to make a dvr? i am looking at 10 cameras, based on what i have seen i need a 16 camera setup. the only 16 channel cards i see have a large connector on it, what goes on the other end of that so i can hook up my bnc connectors to it?

Do you want a wide angle and what about the lighting? ADS7700 I have and it's a nice camera. Image Sensor SONY 1/3“ Super HAD CCD Resolution 560 TV lines Minimum Illumination 0.3 LUX @ F2. Lens Furnished 2.9mm Power Supply DC 12V Power Consumption 140 mA Total Pixels NTSC:410,000 / PAL: 470,000 S/N Ratio More than 50 dB Auto Gain Control YES Backlight Compensation Automatic Video Output 1 Vp-p / 75 Ohms. Dimensions 3.11" × 2.09" One of the better ones I know of, unless you have further specs or things you need other than "BNC and Face@5ft". it did terminatre in the gutter but they were removed when we redid the front of the house. it will be fixed when everything is done. if you look, the pvc pipe on the left looks cracked, which is for the old air handler. the one on the right is for the new one edit: damn, your good. that was the model number.
