So what are the numbers on the chips that are extra on the 761? I have all the gear. anyone got a good reason for me to do the work, knock out a 20 page report (with pictures etc) and mod intructions for something that is already an option for a couple of $$ more? Cheers, Snoogs PS. Textronics: TDS220 with FFT option FTW

Just a note. The dvr requires a blank HDD, ie unformatted. use fdisk to remove any partitions before popping any spare hard drive in for testing purposes. Regards, Snoogs

Hi Guys, Im Snoogs aka Chris. (Snoogs is actually my puppy but it makes for a nice online tag) I suppose I should have introduced myself b4 asking for help and much appreciate being pointed in the right direction. I live and work in Hobart, Tasmania and have been doing IT and Electronic design / manufacture for the past 20 yrs or so. One of my clients recently asked for a cctv system so he could view his office and house over the net, mainly when his alarms went off. He is most dis-satisfied with the generic security company we have down here in Australia and wants to get rid of em completely. Anyhow so now im playing within a new field. Its quite cool actually, I get payed to play and learn Thanks again to Kiwi for the prompt response. I will attempt to assist others in respect to the fields of experience that I am more ofey with. I have found the new avtech units to quite good for the pricing and fairly simple to learn. What is it with good products and crap manuals lol. Cheers, Snoogs

Sweet M8, Thanks heaps. Ill check that over the next few days when the HD gets to the 5gig window again. It would seem reasonable to for it to overwrite the oldest data in 5 or 8 gig blocks. (760 does it in 5 gig blocks) Shame they dont mention this in the manual. even in TWinglish. I have 2 units atm. They r uber from my limited experience with them. (especially @ $900 AUS) This was the only thing i could find that was a bit dodgey with em. Cheers, Snoogs

Hi Guys, Here is the issue. I have a Avtech 760 4Ch system. When I set it recording in overwrite mode it happily records the full 250gig and then you would expect it to go back and start writing over from the beginning of the HD right? Ha Ha not so It overwrites in a loop for the last 5gig of the HD only! WTF? I have tried every option I can find but it always chews up the (cleared) HDD and then sits there looping the last 5gig. Any Ideas? Much thanks, Snoogs

Simple Hio, 2 solutions: 1--- Sketch out the IR circuit from a 761. It will only be a couple of resistors and probably 1 smd IC, (an op-amp) to amplify/level convert the signal from the IR reciever and feed it to the system processor. Add these bits to the 760 board with a very fine tipped soldering iron. Stick some 761 firmware in it and bobs ur unkle. Although 761 firmware might not like being unable to find the usb bits 2--- Buy a 761 Cheers, Snoogs *waves @ Kiwi from Tasmania
