hello i have a building that has electricity, metal pole barn building, its 600 feet from my home, i have 4 cameras there wired all the way back to my house, cat5, works fine been working for 10 years now old analaog cameras. I would like to upgrade and do it myself, so im looking for something reliable like my wired system has been all these years, i would like to have more cameras maybe 8 in total, looking for something easy to setup and maintain with excellent picture quality. Can i do something wireless from within the building exteriors to like a router and link the router back to the house somekinda way? I dont want to pay for internet each month so any otion using that is out. thanks for your ideas mack

cat5 how do you terminate the ends?
kentuckynet replied to kentuckynet's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
using baluns on each end was what i thought i was suppose to do, but i read where someone said you only had or needed one and that was at the dvr and by using 2 you lost (some) video signal quality. So that got me to thinking that maybe there was another way??? I dont like powered baluns as thats just more money and something that goes bad every time we have a bad lightning storm. thanks mack -
hello using cat5 cable to travel from camera to dvr is there anyway to terminate the ends other than using a balun at both ends? how do you get a bnc connector connected to cat5 without the balun? thanks

running 4 analog cameras and dont wont to add more wires how can i add an additional camera or two and just have them switch back and forth ? thanks -
cat 6 is also copper,......... we designed video decoder that converts analog TV signal into digital video data feeding into the back end compression CoDec......(is this something i should try?) are there any other ideas to make my system work better short of throwing it all away?

hello, im currenlty running 4 analog cctv cameras . My question is i have used a couple of different grade/cost/quality, cat5 and cat6 direct burial wires running through conduit for extra protection. it seems the cat 6 doesnt seem to give me as good of a picture as did the cat5 its a 700' run! Any ideas if one cable truly is better running this long of transmission? im aware of the products made by nvt and even use the transmitter and receiver to do this same setup but its 3500' feet long(with a better picture than my 700'run). The 700' im currently doing is what im asking about.....which wire carries best(or least loss) on the longest run without additional help....thanks ps...many reasons as to why i have tried different cables from a ground hog to a lawn mower....before switching to conduit and burying it.

How do you make the connection when the camera just has wire
kentuckynet replied to kentuckynet's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
nothing i like better than a smart ass answer! the camera is probably better than you guys can afford. CNB BE4810NCR , and yes it comes with bare wires. Yes i know what a balun is used for! So i guess none of you have ever use the CNB cameras huh? Plainly marked as to what wire goes where. I had a simple question where i was wondering if they made something better than soldering wires.........but the question was obviously too tough for the "pros" on this site. -

Hello when your camera just has bare wires do you use two baluns hooked together? Or do you just twist the camera wires to your cat5e wires and maybe solder them? thanks as im just curious how the pros do it............ Mack -
