Hello everyone, i recently purchased 2 of these cameras NUVICO CB-SD3895N-L [edit by mod-store link removed] Guys i would really appreciate your opinions on this cameras. I set them up today on 40 VA surge protected AC transformers. I noticed the color image is a bit dark and noisy. The camera has a Onscreen menu and it appears i have to regulate the backlight compensation and the AGC to low . These cameras are for outdoor use looking down on a yard. Does anyone know what the optimal settings for these cameras are?

No one has bothered to email me with this information. I need specifics from someone that has this camera as far as what settings are optimal for outdoor use. At least i can say that i have not had any leaks or failures with these cams.

I'm at this moment considering purchasing another 1304 for wildlife cameras. When set to best in conjunction with a good camera and LCD monitor it yields very good recording quality. Web streaming is good, using direct draw yields a decent feed. Hook up a small fan to it, set it up with a reliable 250GB drive set it to record a 20FPS and your golden, records 7 days with 4 cameras at its best setting.

I have the 1304 and without a doubt it is the best DVR for the money on the market. At D1 with an LCD monitor in the best setting, the picture quality is fantastic, as good as much more expensive DVRs, the trade off features and case design.

Hey Rory had you had a chance to compare the CNB with the Nuvicos? Sorry to hear about your KPC-S230CHWWX lipstick cam, i never did like their 6 month warranty Don't throw it away, use it as a Car cam or R&D.

My vote goes for the Avermedia 1304 + Net, i have setup and been around quite a few high end Panasonic and GE DVRs and this DVR shows a playback that is identical to the live view almost as good as the high end stuff. However to take advantage of this quality you must setup the Avermedia at the Best record Settings and use a VGA monitor, computer monitor. And at $397 its a bargain, 4 channel DVR.

Thanks for the info everyone, i haven't had time to find the ideal settings for this camera. I don't know whether to disable DNR and DSS, i need optimal picture quality. I guess ill troubleshoot when i have the time.

Marine use DYDNS.com use port 8000 for viewing the video feed. Make sure you have the firewall turned off on the modem, let the router do all the filtering and port forwarding. Make sure the only device doing the DDNS updating is the router. Go to this website to ensure that you have the proper ports open https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2 . Select user defined port and scan the port you selected, make it 8000. Make sure in host name on the DDNS router settings you input the host address with out http: or www simply your assigned DNS name.com. Also enable remote management on the router. There are tutorials on this website that teach you how to port forward and the basics of networking in an hour or so you'll be on your way. 1) Create an account at DYDNS.COM from the location you are installing the system. 2)Determine what your dynamic external ip is at the site by going to http://whatismyip.com 3)Enter appropriate data in your newly created DYDNS account including IP and DNS name you wish to use for your camera system or other device. (Example myhomecam.homelinux.com) 4) the name will be associated with the ip you put in. 5) set appropriate port forwarding on the router and setup DDNS on the router and your good to go 6) Select a good router example (Linksys WRT54G /GS not the WRT54G, the GS has twice the memory and it wont freeze or quit) use port 8000! 7) Go here to make sure the ports you need are open from the outside https://www.grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2, make sure all your devices inside the network are configured and plugged in.

Thanks for the heads up dubwiser but i already purchased the cameras, got them for 229 elsewhere. I opened the camera and noticed the silica packs inside, so i might be ok. Cameras will go under an overhang so only blowing rain will get to them. Picture quality is good just a bit noisy, im thinking is the AGC, or DSS.

Can you be more specific, clearer as to your intent. Do you wish to access your DVR from inside your home network or outside?

Hello everyone, new to this forum but not the world of CCTV. As a Network Administrator i have come upon many DVRs costing from a few thousand dollars to the cheap OEM stuff readily found for a few hundred. The only products that have impressed me as far as picture quality seem to have been name brand and the odd OEM unit. I purchased an Avermedia EB1304NEt with some hesitation, because of its price and "limited" feature set. I installed the EB1304 unit with my Sony 540 TV line SuperHad Cameras and proceeded to turn on my CCTV LCD monitor and was quite shocked. The picture quality on playback on this DVR on the BEST setting is almost identical to the Live feed. Almost no thithering or pixelation or aliasing, when compared to the D1 image on good lighting conditions. The DVR displayed images closely resembling a Panasonic unit i setup recently. Folks as im sure you guys know, this DVR is wonderful for the money one of the best, BUT MAKE SURE YOU USE A PC LCD MONITOR.

I have an Avermedia EB1304, pretty much the same DVR. They are great little DVRs but you cant view live or playback as far as i know through USB. You have to configure the network settings assign an internal IP to the DVR and view it via Internet Explorer or the included software.Make sure than when viewing through Internet Explorer you install the Active X component that is requested upon getting the DVR main page prompt. And yeah... RTFM!

If you do discover that you don't have a Static Public IP, usually one given to you by your ISP on request usually more costly. You have to assign only one device to update the DDNS server, in other words let your router or DVR update your DDNS server such as noip.com or Dydns.com but not both like others here have stated. Once this is done it should work, if the DDNS account gets locked or redflagged create a new one with a new DNS name.

Guys this link is old, but i want to but in my 2 cents in. I also use DD-WRT on my WRT54G routers (have 8 of them) Latest Micro version because i use V 8 routers had to kill the VXWorks OS. Folks the main problem with the WRT54G routers is simply the ram buffer on these routers is only 8 Megabytes, 200 MHZ or more processor. I'm a network technician and i have diagnosed this issue many times with clients attempting to stream video through the Web with the WRT54G Routers. Avoid the Linksys WRT54G and go with a Linksys WRT54G /GS these routers have 16 MB of memory that does not get overwhelmed by streaming video ,assign port 8000 instead of port 80 allow remote management of router, in gaming and applications route the appropriate ports. These routers are very reliable keep them hooked up to a good UPS with stable clean power and cool and they should last for years without a video feed issue.The WRT54G /GS is only about 15 dollars more than the WRT54G they do not need to be reflashed with a linux OS.

Hello everyone, recently i purchased a 1304 for my home general surveillance system. The unit appears to work just fine read the PDF manual on their website yet i cant find an answer to my problem. The DVR displays a "Power Error detected" message. I have tried 3 different sockets all conditioned to 60Hz 120 Volts. Could this be due to improper shutdown of the unit, as i cant find any literature that specifies how to properly shut the DVR down. Any information you guys can provide would be appreciated.

Thank you very much VST_Man, for your response. Is there a proper method of powering down this DVR, there are no instruction on the manual for this procedure. Is it as simple and crude as pulling the plug??
