Are you sure its a genuine Geovision card?
  2. I am looking for a good working geovision card whit 8 video inputs. Want to run the new iphone app whit it. Pleas send me you price.
  3. I have a Vista PTZ dome (not windows vista, but brand vista) I got a rs485 output whit A/B see picture. My old 4channel Avtech recorder has a sub 9 i/o connector. The manual learn me that pin 10 and 11 are for rs485. The question is wits wire must i connect to witch pin? And other question, 2400/4800/9600 etc.. I can select all speeds on the dvr and dome those 4800 or 9600 or no divergence noticeable when use. I plan to use 2400 on the dome and recorder, is this wise? Anyone?

    RS485 questions

Hmmm, up and running, But the ptz movements are not that great whit the AVtech software. i press left and 2 seconds later i go a bit left. Really diverticult to get the camera i the position that i want. Have i made a cable error? or is it just the software that sucks? Suggestions welcome.
  7. I wanna know where you shop that Cat6 is the same price as Cat5e, because everywhere around here, Cat6 carries a pretty hefty premium. Example: one retailer has 1000' boxes of FT4 Cat5e at $96 while 1000' of FT4 Cat6 is $230. Plus all connectors and patch panels are more money. Here marktplaats.nl Seems i was lucky whit the price, price seems to be here 30% higher whit cat 6. I have notice a diverseness whit cat 6, see the twist, blue orange! But the picture seems perfect, even the the eBay baluns. Other picture, perfect shot on the twist.
  8. Use CAT6, same price, better performance.
  9. I am still looking for a good replacement for my AVTECH DVR. My old DVR never broke down or need a reset, but the software is crap and searching for a event is hell. So i am looking for a good working, 2009 technology. I fond a Dutch Geovision seller that sells a PC whit vist whit a 50 frames card for 1200 euro (8 channel ) I want to login my DVR whit my iphone. Now i fond this DVR, is this a better deal than the Geovision solution? http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Q-see-QSTD2408-8-Channel-Pentaplex-Network-Digit_W0QQitemZ400041266190QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5d24514c0e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14 ebay item number 400041266190 Or is Geovision solution always better?

Has anyone tried Windows 7 with Geovision

Question, i want to buy a Geovision solution at a official Geovision dealer. Is it maybe smart to wait for Win 7 or just order a Vista Geo solution now. Thanks, Coke
  11. Think a bit out of the box. Just use a cheap chines camera (20~80 usd) if it gets broken replace it whit a other one. Most camera`s will survive years in that condition. A trick can me to under voltage the camera so internal heat will drop. (most 12 volt chinees crap cameras work fine whit 9 volt or even 6 volt) Option 2: Also a little blower (2~7 usd) can be used to lower the camera heat. A normal brand camera, bit under voltage and a blower will work perfectly to.

    Counterfeit GV-1480 cards?

I read on there site that the do not sale on eBay, and no distributor are aloud to sell them on eBay. Also the price is controlled by Geovision, so discounter will not sell this cards likely. Geo must have big loss whit thia fake ones, i am looking for a DVR card and i am not buying Geo, scared to buy a fake!

How can I optimize my 2.4GHz Link?

I really like the stock antennas in combination whit the booster unless you have a specific fixed application There are a couple problems using higher gain antennas in your situation. The first (detailed below) is loss of gain in the vertical and immediate surrounding area. Second is the loss in the cable and connectors - you lose significant gain in every foot of cable, and in every extra connector - stock antennas have no cable and only one connector. When you use a "higher gain omni" antenna, you are actually losing gain from other directions (the sum of omnidirectional gain in all passive antennas approach the same value - therefore you are always correspondingly less omnidirectional the higher the antenna gain.) A higher-gain omni flattens the coverage area and/or decreases/eliminates gain for close proximity. True omnidirectional coverage is zero gain with the antenna in the center. Obviously all omni antennas have gain - so the coverage looks more like a doughnut. The higher the gain, the flatter the doughnut and the larger the hole is in the middle (the middle being where the antenna is located.) So, long story short, I like the stock antennas, they have just the right balance for the dynamic conditions in a vehicle, house or fixes close position. They also have only one connector loss, and no cable loss.
