Not to my knowledge you are not able to. When playing back over the internet it streams directly from the HDD on the dvr and it does not have a "buffer" like when you watch a movie online. Thanks, John

I've had horrible luck with Av Tech dvr's as well. Tho T.O.M Tech is actually doing quite well for us. Easy menus to navigate and great functionality. Also use some of Hi-Sharps. My .02

Am I reading this correctly? He's stating that he does not have a RS-485 +/- , that the Protocol for the P/T/Z functions are ran through the Coax? IF I'm reading this right then you will need to find an adapter that will break off the P/T/Z signal out of the Coax line and have into a 2-wire type interface. Unless you can find a dvr (possibly pc based) that can control that type of data through the coax line. Goodluck tho, John

Something like that I was thinking. But you can get a smaller one that functions just as that large box that takes up to a 4amp DC power supply or an AC power supply as well. Either like the picture I posted or the one you posted. For a smaller application I really don't think you need anything to to large. Thanks, John

Does his switcher have loop outs from each of the camera inputs? If so simply jump off of those into the Geovision card. Thanks, John

This is the same information that was told to him in his previous post concerning the same thing with the same pictures . Maybe he didn't read that post, anyways here goes again. Just like UMD said, you can use any colors you would like for whatever you would like them to be as long as the colors match on the other end. Blue = Video at the camera end then Blue = Video at the DVR end as well. Green = Positive Power at the camera then at your power supply Green = Positive Post This is all you have to worry about. Congrats!!! It's always fun opening boxes from UPS and seeing things you've purchased, I love it. As far as which ones to use for video it will not matter inside of the Cat-5 as long as you use the same ones the same way on each end. The small white boxes are your power supplies am I rite? Why not a distributive power supply box? Thanks, John

What type of power supply are you using? Are you sure when you cut the wires you didn't cut the ground and hot at the same time thus grounding them out to one another and popping a fuse in you're power supply? I've seen it happen a few times!

I agree, I used to carry the older model that Argus had but we purchased them through Apro. I wasn't always happy with the dvr so we ended up returning all of the units (nearly 5 pallets full) to Argus who took them back. The unit wasn't bad but we carried it during it's first stages of being built which is why we had so many problems with it I think. We now carry T.O.M Technology's full line and are very pleased with it. A demo for the unit I'm talking about is Message me for the info the username is Admin and the password is 1. At the moment you can just install the activeX codec and should be good to go with viewing. If you have the software tho you have full functionality of the unit remotely tho. I agree! I've been carrying the Varifocal version as well and it's a great camera to. Anyways I would recommend the 2024V that we carry since it's IR/Varifocal/Polycarbonate Domed and has the ability to be mounted flat and have the wires run underneath it to the inside of the building easily. Ok... I've tried posting a link to the picture but it isn't working so if you want here goes a description! On the small ST3402 software icon in the running applications box of windows (bottom right by the clock) you should have the icon there, if so simply RIGHT Click it then goto Monitor Startup Mode and select Service Autorun. Once that's done close the software and restart the software and then the computer to doublecheck that it worked properly. That should be it! Also, If you haven't already purchased the Vivotek cameras then shoot me a pm and let me see if I can get you a sweet price at where I work because we carry all of Vivotek's line and have had great success with them. If you're looking for a bullet camera or vandal dome try sneaking into one of these domes (specs posted in attachment). This has a fitting at the bottom to run the cable through it also.

The largest I've ran was a 14 Camera setup and it ran smoothly. I used the IP6112 and the IP7139's and it came out working quite nicely. The key thing I used was the ST3402 software to view up to 16 different IP cameras at one time and you can navigate them via the software plus other functions in the software are rather nice. You should still be able to download a copy of that software off of Vivotek's webpage I think... If not let me know I'll find you a copy. Thanks, John

It is a must for every dealer, designer and end user that has anything at all to do with CCTV systems. This is the most complete, easy to read book of it's kind on the market today, containing a wealth of information that will be valuable for years to come. The English version is up to date. The best book I've found would be listed above. I didn't see a reason to purchase the cd's of the information tho I'm sure there's more than just e-books on the cd's. Try it out and even tho it's a little pricey I'm sure it's worth it (or at least hope it is)... Thanks, John

I really like this idea! Most lockboxes I've used lock in the front very secure just in the back isn't as sturdy as I'd like it to be. In my setups tho I've ended up either installing a different type joint in the back or something like this below. Typically works fine just takes a little bit more elbow grease... aka working on a brand new product. I don't see why manufacturers of lockboxes don't do something like this already on the rear of them.

Hey Rory, I think he's referring to the Divis cards actually. I seen them and have demo'ed them myself but I didn't like their products so we chose to not carry their products. Same as the jpeg2000 dvr's from Argus. Thanks, John

Not trying to promote and sell our products but we do carry both of those. The OL70 I think is like $80? The 21CSHRX is like $145? You'd have to talk to our sales reps for the in stone price tho. I didn't think the power was an issue pre-350ft. The powered ones I've used are Vivotek's and they are typically very good but I'm unsure of the pricing being under $100 tho.
