    Speco Intensifier cams...

There just using the "Sense Up" feature that a few cameras have now? That means with motion while the cameras watching it you get streaks and it's not very fluent rite? I've seen quite a few of those.... also I hear that the "Intensifier" is very power hungry... that true?
  3. A fact I'm well aware of. I'm asking why you would add a layer of complexity by changing that port for no security value. I could understand if you were going to use something like port knocking to open it, but simply moving it to 5002 doesn't help. It's either going to show up as a known or unknown web server to a port scan. That's true Thomas but some routers (netgear's in particular) I've seen block port 80 as well as a couple netopia's, so I could see the reasoning behind moving it to another port. As far as the original posters question I would say you will need to port forward all 3 of the ports on TCP and UDP to the dvr's IP address. If you need more help let us all know. Good luck, Thanks, John

    Outdoor enclosure question

/Wave Most people in the Southern states don't have to worry about a heater for the cameras to function. Now as far as a blower... well... that's a different story. I know on our building we use nothing but a basic housing and it's functioning perfectly and has been for about 2 years now. unless you count the wasp nest on the bracket as a camera problem. That would be the best thing I can think of. Thanks, John

    Zoom out distance

It would be a field of view of ~ 125.7 ft by 94.3. A human being is generally 6 ft x 2 ft. So a person would take up less then .1% of that image. . You probably meant to say 1.6% 6 * 2 = 12 125.7 * 94.3 = 11853.51 12/11853.51= 0.00101 and change. Did I make a math error somewhere? *Starts up the ole calculator* Oh anyway, I'd like to know what it is you're trying to see 3,000ft away as that's a great deal of distance. Would you like to give us some more information so we can help you. Thanks, John
  7. I know right? There's an exit on the side to tho if you want to disassemble it and actually thread it out of the side but that hole is gonna not be waterproof anymore. If you need this camera let me know I think we got a few in stock. Thanks, John
  8. But did you catch the part about it working from a remote Comcast circuit? I'm not much of a networking guy, but this is what I'm seeing: 1) DVR works locally 2)DVR works remotely from a Comcast circuit 3)DVR does not work remotely from clients home DSL circuit 4)GE says it's a Time Sync Error. If this were my problem I would be asking GE what a Time Sync Error is. Time sync sounds like a modem or circuit issue more then a routing issue to me. Yep, I seen that but I still think he's just going to get a run-around from them and will end up having to figure it out on his own. If it's a router I know how to use I can try to set it up for you to see if I can access it from our location. Otherwise uhm... I wish him good luck?

    Good 4 channel DVR?

I would recommend a dvr046 that we carry currently. The unit is 120fps and can store up to almost a month of storage when using a 400+gb drive. I'd say look at the companies that you see selling them and just see if you can find any reviews on them. The only issue I know with our dvr is that when trying to view it in windows vista if you didn't install the software you'll need to download the newest one from our site. But... that's about it.

    Please Help !!

Us tech guys always give an answer that looks so easy to us but so hard to others haha. But Wachhund is right, that's about all you really do. You need to have a computer plugged into the router and configure the dvr to work with the "network" of other devices. What router/dvr are you using?

Please Help Me....I am so confused

A standalone is more of a "stash and forget" type of item in my opinion. You simply install the hdd in it configure it and never come back to it until you have an incident or unless you like to routinely check up on it. Ours in our office has been running almost 3 years now no burps at all and has helped the company next door to us catch people breaking in LOL!!! If you need to know camera ideas/options it would be in your best intrest to go to the cameras you already have installed and take a photo of the rear of them and upload it to the site to show us, that way we will know what type of cable you have and your pre-existing connections. Good luck!, John
  13. Most of vivotek's cameras on their webpage have a demo option you can simply click to view. www.vivotek.com and then goto "products". Thanks, John
  14. Sounds more like you have an issue with your subnet mask or something within your gateway. I would double check all of your settings or possibly post them here if you don't mind. Maybe post all the settings in the dvr and then post all of your settings in your router. IP/Gateway/Subnet (dvr) and then Ipconfig your computer for the ip/gateway/subnet. I think something does not match.
  15. The systems I have I think we may have a total of 3 that function and are pda based but ours only work on the Windows Platforms. Thanks, John

    Compression Fittings

Well make it look uniform! Just go back to all the compression fittings cut them and re-do them in crimps No really, I use bnc twist as well and I haven't had a single issue with them to this day. I know I sold a customer of ours some BNC 3pc Crimps and ended up having to re-do the connection about 2 years later because of the sleeve not holding the main piece firm enough and it started to short out the video intermittently. Fun stuff, John
  17. If those are IR cameras he may not be able to focus them and achieve anything better than what he currently sees. I think the resolution of his cameras is to low for his satisfaction. He should consider a camera like this for IR http://tinyurl.com/3mmklp or maybe http://tinyurl.com/3grbwo if you want a vari-focal camera. I just simply think these specs are to low for what your expectations are. Either of the two cameras I posted links to up there would be a better camera for your outdoor Ir application I think. I think that cameras specs look good so the best thing I could say to this would be placement and adjust the vari-focal that the camera has for a better viewing image. Also, I seen you said the screen looks the same even on a CRT monitor but a CRT vs an LCD the images will definitely not look exactly the same. LCD TV? Or do you have an actual CRT Monitor possibly sitting around? Lemme know! Holla, John
  18. Awsome results and thank you for posting them! RickA and Griffonsystems good recommendation on that camera it looks like it did him some good! Good find Chuck! Thanks, John

    JSD-400 JPEG2000 Firmware Upgrade

Did you try downloading the correct firmware for the unit? www.j2ksupport.com is where I know the files are hosted typically. Good luck tho, because the last time I flashed the wrong firmware on one of those dvr's I ended up making a door stop out of it. Best of luck tho, Thanks, John
  20. Well.. I hoped it would hit Louisiana again, I didn't want to see it hit Texas in fear of it hitting the oil fields and making gas prices skyrocket. So I'm soooooooooo sorry RickA for trying to make sure you don't have to spend to much to fill up your "ole-pickup-truk" to head out spotlighting.... I mean fishing. I seen your company pull out in the recent security magazine tho, very nice! PS: I don't think the customer in this thread ever contacted me at all so I could help him. Holla,

  22. S & G??? Soup and Goulash??? Phhhhtttttt, giggle, giggle! Someday there will be a severe earthquake along the San Andreas fault causing the United States to slide into the Pacific leaving only Florida to survive!!! Or was that the United States sliding into the Atlantic leaving only California??? Well I hope our boot stays a-float. As I can't swim ... doggy paddle... hell I can't even frog it, I'm a goner. But really, his problem is with those routers, I bet if he had a linksys he wouldn't have ever posted about this problem.
  23. This is a image of the picture that he's trying to see. (I'm on the phone with him now) I recommended him a WDR camera or a True Day/Night camera because keep in mind this is a box camera outside and will need to be able to see at night. Anyone got any good suggestions let's hear them! Rick or Scorp, where you at? http://img398.imageshack.us/my.php?image=92401507we6.jpg

FPS - in - Post Your Tested PC

Why not post in the thread asking? (Now that I know what you're referring to) I think that FPS is showing what each camera is recording at and being viewed as. There's a frame rate that the cameras can be viewed at and I think their simply listing it. Thanks, John
