Not hard for that camera model I recommended at all! The 2.9mm lens will give you a good wide picture so that is what I would recommend. The other camera on the end of the house/walkway do you plan on swapping out that camera as well? http://tinyurl.com/38xdnw is the 7400/7500 model and those are IR domes with a good picture. I guess since the "LOL" came I assumed it was sarcasm. Yea, I know a while back we had a bad name but that was before I came along and I'm trying to fix that!!! Are you wanting to go IR or just simply keep it low light? If you're looking for low light B7221CSX is .05 lux and a great camera. It has a 3.6mm lens on it. Or would you rather a dome?

a laserpen kills you ccd instant Yep, I ran into some parent who brought kids last year to the ISC East show at our booth we were talking to the parent and the kid was playing with a laser pointer and I had asked the parent to make sure the kid didn't point it at the cameras... Needless to say... *sigh* 3 cameras later and the kid getting a buttwhooping caught on the last working camera he stopped doing it. I kept using him getting his butt spanked as my playback demo. "If you notice right here he dropped the laser pointer" then the other customers just laughing. Hey! I was amused!

It sounds like something I ran into before so I think it's more "Site End" than "Users End". Hopefully you can get them posted tho, if not you can upload them to another free site and just link to it directly and that should be fine.

I agree with ZM very much so actually. I should've addressed this earlier but I looked it over I guess? I'm having a horrible morning so I'll take some time to type this out. What has made you chose the 7131? Have you viewed the IP7138 at all, it is a POE camera as well (802.3af compliant PoE) and is a mega-pixel camera rather than your typical cmos type camera. Also the 7138 can run a varifocal lens on it (non-mechanical) that you can adjust which would give you more options vs the other unit you've previously selected. @ZMXtech, Tho the Vivotek cameras are far from a bad camera in my honest opinion, the Axis would be a better camera but is it truthfully worth $500 more dollars. The IP7138 comes in just under $400which is what I usually move it for and we move almost 37-41 of them a month successfully with very limited negative feedback from our customers. It's in the same menu as the "auto start" function. It's going to be a little slow on a slower pc or even a slower internet connection? Are either of these a factor in your setup? As far as getting it to work try going into the Scheduler and setup the function of recording for all 7 days of the week and you should be set. If you need anything else let me know. Thanks, John

Axel, That model dvr does not support the IE remote viewing functions. They have a newer one that you can download the software off of directly but still that does not allow you to watch it via IE only by the software. If you are in need of one that has IE functions checkout our MX and LX series DVR's, they have the IE function as well as remote viewing via software. Rick, I just got a vendor in today from Seoul Korea that presented a model like this to us here at my office. I'll pm you the name of them if you want to see if it's the same dvr or not if you would like me to. But the one I'm talking about has a very eye-catching menu (blue/white/orange) and flows through the setup very easily. Also has a DVD-R built into the unit also. I've used both and I seem to keep going back to Standalone Dvr's. I like the fact that the units do not run WinBlows and are very stable as long as setup correctly. Tho a lot of the Dvr's do have certain limitations that limit you that a pc does not. Concerning the mouse thing, a bunch of dvr's now have the ability to run a mouse so this isn't really a benefit over Standalones. Does anyone have recommendations as far as vendors and models? *8/16 channel stand alone network dvr with 240/480 FPS < $1000 *Good Outdoor PTZ dome cameras on a budget < $700 What specs are you looking for on these units other than Outdoor PTZ? *Budget Color Dome Cameras with and without varifocal lenses up to <$200 each? 2.8-12 Good? 2g49's are a dome we sell low light and great camera all around. *2 reg. box cameras facing back to back installed to a housing unit to monitor North and South positions along side or above the PTZ camera. What lens on these units and do we need extremely low lighting cameras (low lux?) or do you need just regular box cams? Fun Fun!

I've done the same and also they have just modulators that you can run to any single television but for multiple tv applications the amplifiers work nicely. You can pick those up rather cheaply also!

http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/surveillance-video/vs5000.pdf I'm not seeing the 8 outputs on this unit. I'm looking and reading it's functions and it explains that it can be homing or bridging but still only 8bnc's on the rear of the units for cameras. He may end up having to use a powered splitter if this is the case, since I know with the Geovision cards if they get a weak signal then they will simply not even show video at all. Good luck, John
